My Fairytale( The Magic Violin)

The Magic Violin1

Once upon a time, there was a fair maiden named Maria. She was very beautiful and lived in a huge white castle, complete with turrets and windows that looked like they touched the skies. She always wore a long pink evening gown that nearly touched the ground and her hair bore thick, long honey-golden curls. One day, Maria was taking a stroll around the castle grounds, when she came upon a violin. It was on the ground and it looked very well-made and exquisite. It sparkled in the morning sun. Sitting alongside the violin was a long bow. Maria wondered whose it might have been and why it was lying there. She was ever so sure that whoever owned the fine instrument would certainly want it returned. She gently picked up the violin and studied its features carefully. She ran her small dainty hand slowly up and down the smooth body of the instrument, taking in its beauty. Maria turned as she heard approaching hooves. She looked to see a large handsome man coming towards her on a large white stallion. As the man approached her, he saw that she had a violin in her hands. The man stopped the large horse and looked down at Maria. 2

“ That is mine, young maiden. May I have it back please?”3

Maria hesitated. 4

“How do I know it is yours kind sir?“5

“I am Prince Harold of Camelot Town, I will be the next king, who else would own such an fine instrument but royalty?”6

Maria reluctantly handed the violin over to him. Then, she handed him the bow and he began playing it. The music was magical, so beautiful that Maria thought she might fall asleep. But, she knew she wasn’t falling asleep, she was falling in love. She gazed deeply into Prince Harold’s eyes and saw how handsome and strong he was. She knew right then she was madly in love with him. Prince Harold smiled at her, revealing his brilliant white teeth as his eyes lit up. He then abruptly stopped playing the violin and galloped away on his mighty steed. He called back over his shoulder, 7

“ Thank you for finding my violin!”8

That night before going to bed, Maria changed into a purple nightgown and combed her golden locks with a silver brush. She looked into her vanity mirror and she couldn’t understand how she could’ve fallen for Prince Harold so suddenly. She had never thought of him before, actually, she thought he was quite vain. For some reason, she had a feeling it was because of that violin. Something about the music might’ve made her feel differently, but she couldn’t be positive. Just then, there was a knock on her balcony window. She opened it up and looked out onto the terrace. 9

There stood smiling, was Prince Harold. He was carrying the violin and had somehow climbed up to her balcony. 10

He pointed to it and said, “ I have to talk to you about this instrument. It’s magical.“ 11

Maria looked puzzled and asked, “ What do you mean?” 12

“It makes people fall in love with one another,” he said.13

“When I played the music today, I fell madly in love with you and I now I can think of no other than you my love.” Prince Harold replied. 14

Maria smiled and said, “Oh, Prince Harold, I fell for you too very deeply and very suddenly. I’m not sure what we should do next.” 15

“ Well, my beautiful maiden, we should marry, but first what is your name?” Prince Harold asked.16

“Maria” 17

“A beautiful name for a beautiful maiden. Please you must marry me and make me the happiest man in the land.”18

“ Oh, Prince, I would love to! “19

“ But,” said Harold, “There is one little problem. I am to marry Charlotte of Harrington on Saturday. But please don’t worry, it’s a forced marriage, I will find a way to get out of it because I love you.” 20

Maria nodded and smiled as the Prince left quickly. Maria happily went to sleep, dreaming of the magic violin and her handsome Prince.21

That Saturday, Maria attended the wedding. She wore her hair down and she wore a lovely silk blue gown which showed off her lovely blond hair. The music started playing as Charlotte of Harrington walked slowly down the aisle. She wore a long white evening gown with sparkles and her hair was pinned up on top of her head with curls hanging down. She was not a handsome woman so she wore a long white veil that covered her entire face. Prince Harold smiled when he saw Maria. He then frowned when he watched Charlotte get closer and closer. He knew there was no way he could marry Charlotte when he only wanted Maria. Charlotte was cruel and too wealthy for her own good. She gave people mean grimaces as she continued down the aisle. When she reached the altar and was about to be wed, Prince Harold turned to the crowd and announced,22

“ STOP! I don’t love Charlotte of Harrington, I love the fair maiden, Maria!” 23

He waved his hands in the air and gestured for Maria to come to the altar. Maria ran to him down the aisle, smiling and blushing. Prince Harold gazed into her eyes and said, 24

“ You look beautiful, Maria, I want you to marry me right now in front of all my subjects.”25

Maria beamed with joy, smiled and said yes, and they were wed right there and then. Charlotte of Harrington threw her bouquet at the guests while screaming that no one had ever treated her in this manner and that they would all be sorry. She huffed out of the church.26

As for Maria and Harold, they lived a long happy life together in the kingdom and as for the magic violin, they passed it down to their children and grandchildren so they too could find true love.27

This was very fun to read, but i found lots of mistakes, grammatically.  Enjoyed the concept and the way you created it. P3 , after back. P5 , after kind. P6 , after kings should be ;. P7 , after asleep should be ;. P10 stood should be standing. P 22 ,'s after head and woman. P23 , after harrington should be ;. P26 has a run-on. Some para's are structured awkward, break a few more? Dialogue structure flaws.

I'm sorry if it sounds bad. I loved the story and wish you all the success in writing! Thanks for entering! Enjoyed it.
