Origin Ch. 2

It wouldn't be until later that night...I don't remember what day it was, or even the time for that matter, all I knew was that I had to get out of this god forsaken place. Hmph I doubt even God would forsake such a hellhole as this place. Once I managed to get my footing and full control over my body I began planning my escape. This place was complex, no doubt about that, but the key to getting out wasn't how I made my exit, but how I got past all those damned scientists and guards. They watched me like a hawk constantly, every hour they had a switch of guards to keep me locked up in here. So all I had to do was wait. 1

My chance soon came as another hour went by and the change started. I waited a while keeping quiet, not making any noise. That made the current guard come over to my cage. Like a moth to a flame...or a pig to a slaughter would be more appropriate that kinda mombo jumbo and had the dumb idea of unlocking the door. The guard would soon be met with my fist. I felt kinda sorry for the guy cause I know I probably broke a few bones in his face, but I didn't have time to worry about that.2

The alarm soon went off that their precious Weapon X had escaped. I think I had only count to three before my escape path was blocked by guards with every type of weaponry you can think of. Think they could put a mercenary to shame with the amount of ammo and weapons they had. No matter, all I had to do was pop these new babies and I could do some real damage. I heard multiple clicks as bullets and grenades were launched at me as I rushed at the guards popping my new weapons easily getting through the army of guards as more came my way. 3

For a while it seemed like a standstill...for me that is bowling over so many of these lightweights and raising all kinds of hell in this hellhole. In the distance I heard that girls door open. But I paid it no mind as I made my way down to the lower levels taking out various machines and causing quite a large amount of explosions. After a few more battles with the guards and a few scientists leaving a couple dead in my wake I made my way to the core of the place splitting the machines apart. This place was definitely a ticking time bomb right now.4

My mind soon traveled back to that girl that occupied this hellhole with me...I couldn't just leave her here to die. Then again I could. What did I need with some little brat? The beast in me told me to leave the girl be, let her die in this hellhole, but the human side of me told me something completely different. So going with the more intelligent side and my gut instinct I made a beeline back to the girls room.5

Hell I'd be cutting this close. Not that I knew I couldn't survive but one wrong move and even I was done for, even with my mutant healing factor. So the same routine began beat down a few guards a few scientists here avoid those damned high amounts of tranquilizers and sedatives that was probably enough to knock an elephant out for a week. But only kept me asleep for a few hours.6

Finally making my way back up to the girls room I busted down the door and growled a bit seeing the girl standing in the middle of the room. 7

"Come on, if you don't keep up I'm leaving ya behind." I said running past her and making an exit in her wall jumped down seeing her jump out not to soon after as the two of us ran from the building as it went up in smoke. The impact from the blast blew us down the hill as I dug my feet into the snow hanging onto a tree and grabbed the girl holding onto her as the winds blew harshly. 8

Sensing that initial impact was now gone I set the girl down as we continued running. Me in a pair of old fashioned boxers and the girl in what looked like an old ragged dress, or someone's excuse for a hospital gown. We ran throughout much of the night and much of the next day as we made our way down the mountain. The girl surprised me, not because of the simple fact that not only did I not hear one complaint from her but also that she could hold her own and keep up with my strides. It wouldn't be until late afternoon close to the evening that I decided we should take a small break. 9

Finding a small cave I walked inside seeing the girl follow somewhat hesitantly. So the kid did fear some things. I merely kept my back turned to her and glanced over my shoulder every now and again and sniffed the air. This place smelled like it had been used by a few animals in the past. Far as I know it wasn't mating season for any of the game around here so the caves were pretty much empty. I heard the girl walk in and heard a thud after. She probably tripped over something. 10

Then again some light in this place was needed. going over to the girl seeing her on the ground I crouched down looking at her. She wasn't half bad looking for a kid. Long black and I do mean black hair slicked back and drenched with the sweat from our long run. Green eyes that were just about as bright as an emerald maybe a bit darker and probably borderline pale skin from not seeing much of the sun.11

The kid looked up at me and reached, probably expecting me to pick her up. I only stood and looked at her. Yeah I know a lot of people will probably think of me as an asshole later in life but I'm not babysitting the kid, she either learns to survive and do things on her own when I get around to teaching her, or she dies out here in the harsh Canadian winter.12

"There's nothing wrong wit your legs, stand up yourself...wait here while I find some grub." I said leaving the girl alone. 13

I don't know how long it had been since I went back with a rabbit in my hands but the girl hand managed to get a fire started and was sitting by it probably trying to keep herself warm. 14

After cutting the rabbit up and letting it cook on a makeshift spit let the girl have what she wanted and saw her offer me some. 15

"No thanks. You need it more than me." I said seeing her quickly devour almost all of the rabbit as she got up and walked over plopping down beside me. 16

"Get some sleep kid we're gonna be running again tomorrow." I said looking down at her.17

She gave a small nod and got up going over to a small slanted rock and lay her head on it almost immediately going to sleep. Heh would you look at that...almost like having a pet, feed her and she goes right to sleep. I had to make a mental note in my mind to find out her name once we were safe and not being tailed...or could at least relax a bit.18

I knew it was gonna be a long...long while before that happened, so for now, I'd just call her kid. laying against the wall of the cave I watched the fire letting it go out on its own as the thoughts raced through my head about where to go and how to keep the girl I had suddenly aquired out of harms way as well.19

"Logan what the hell have you gotten yourself into?" I asked bringing a hand to my head and thinking. 20

"A mess." I replied not really paying attention to the fact that along with talking to myself I was also answering myself. 21

Oh well wasn't like I wasn't labeled crazy already. Might as well deal with it and get on with life. Next place to go was to find some clothes...of course that would require an old fashioned game of steal the clothes off some unfortunate camper or something...but for the sake of survival it had to be done.
