Kina's eyes followed the shape, swinging gently in the breeze. Captivated, she couldn't stop looking at it, looking so surreal, yet painfully there at the same time. Time seemed to slow as she saw the only one she cared about, hanging by her neck, stiff as a board and wind twitching her legs into some semblance of running, gaping wound still trickling red liquid. Her midnight black eyes were open but unseeing, gazing at her. The sick bastard that killed her had hung the body in a tree, waiting for Kina to see it, like some sort of cruel joke. This twisted fairytale had come to a crashing end, and she couldn't grasp that it was gone, that she was gone. Kina's delicate wings were drooped, black feathers ruffling in the wind. She still held the sword that ended so many lives. She gazed upon the very one that dragged her into this unforgiving world, the one that she should hate so much for showing her this cold, dark universe where death lurks around every corner, but doesn't. She loves her greatly, and that's probably why everything still seems like a dream. She remembers the very day where she discovered this horrible world.1
"Eyes wide in horror, she saw a head roll to her feet, his eyes still clouded with fear. Falling over and resisting the urge to puke, she looked up to see a figure staring at her with cruel and unforgiving black eyes. Her lips were curled into something between a smirk and a sadistic grin. She was beautiful, yet so very, very deadly. Ashen skin made her seem frail, which she was anything but. She clutched a huge axe in both hands, the sharp end still dripping with it's last kill. Strange black shadows were whipping around her, a crimson seal beneath her feet. Kina closed her eyes and waited for the blow, but none came. Slowly opening her bright green orbs, she saw that those midnight eyes had softened into..what? She didn't know. The mysterious girl sighed and offered her a bloodstained hand. Hesitating, she grasped it and the beauty pulled her up. Beckoning for her to follow, she started off into the night, Kina hurrying after her."2
"Once arriving at her destination, the beauty turned and faced her. Despite her appearance, her voice was soft and caring. ' Who are you, pretty thing? And what were you doing in a place like that?' Kina was too confused to speak. The girl just smiled and shook her head. Walking over to Kina, she placed a warm hand on her forehead." 3
"'Now, this might hurt a bit, alright?' She closed her eyes in a mask of concentration, and when she opened them again, she eyes were shadowy black, like somebody had closed the lights inside her head. Kina started and tried to back up, but the girl kept her firmly in place. Suddenly, she felt a searing pain in her back, and screamed as black angel wings sprouted from near her shoulder blades. The girl caught her as she fell. Stroking her forehead, she said softly."4
"'My name is Yuna.'"5
She smiled at the memory, so far away and yet so close at the same time. She was supposed to meet Yuna for dinner today, but instead she found her hanging like a ragdoll in the wind. Standing up, she searched for some rope. That bastard wanted a game? All right, let's take a third life here today, then she wins. She couldn't bear to live here without Yuna. She didn't cry for her lover's death, because it was only a temporary parting. This world was too hard on her, anyway. She decided that nobody would miss her, and she would be happier away from this rotten thing called Life. Standing on a chair, she firmly tied the rope around the branch, right next to Yuna's body. Flashback's rang before her eyes. Just earlier today, was when this took place.6
"She walked into a room, where bodies lined the walls and the stench was almost too heavy to bear. By now, she had grown used to it..it's been 5 months since that fateful day. She was now a killer with Yuna, the beautiful ashen skinned and black eyed assassin who she loved so dearly. Her heart had been hardened to the cruelties of the world, and she didn't know if she even had a soul anymore. But it all was worth it, if she could just be with her. Sword grasped in one hand, she received the letter that said to meet at the cherry blossom tree, in their backyard, Yuna had a surprise for her. Grinning, she exited the room and ran down the streets. Ariving at her destination, she called out."7
"'Yuna! Yuna, where are yooou?' She looked all around the house, but could find no one. Not a soul, the house had remained untouched. Only place left to look was where the letter actually told her to go. Walking towards the tree, she could see something hanging off it. Frowning, her senses smelled blood. She walked faster now, but stopped dead when she saw the true identity. Her whole body shook, like somebody took her and violently tossed her around. Reaching out, she touched Yuna's unmoving hand, and felt only coldness. She shook her head. This couldn't be happening. It has to be someone else. Tilting her head back, she laughed shakily. No, no, no, they won't get the better of her! Hearing a rustle in the bushes, she turned and grinned."8
"'Oh Yuna...is that you?' Lurching towards the noise, she heard a shout of surprise, definitely male, come from the brush. Frowning, she reached in and dragged out a man, mid 30's, with blood covering the front of his shirt. Kina hissed at him. How dare he intrude on their private game! As she rose to cut him open with her blade, her eyes saw something large in his hand. Focusing closely on it, she saw it was Yuna's axe, red with it's owner's blood. Narrowing her eyes, she glared at the man. Slowly it pieced together that that was Yuna, she was dead, and he was responsible. Snarling, she brought the blade down on his arm, severing it and earning a scream of pain. But it wasnt enough. She sliced open the stomach and cut apart the insides, grinning madly all the while. Leaving him to die and choke on his own blood, she walked over to Yuna's dead body and stroked her leg. Sitting down heavily, for hours she just watched her body swing gently in the breeze, still clutching the sword." 9
Thrusting her sword into the ground, under the chair, she sighed. She wished that she would die in battle, holding her weapon fiercely. But, no matter. She heaved up Yuna's axe and stuck it in the ground under her body. Climbing onto the chair, she took a deep breath. Weaving the rope into a noose with shaking fingers was no easy task. She wasn't shaking with fear, but anticipation of seeing her and being with her deceased lover once more. Forcing air into her lungs, she slid the noose onto her neck and tightened it. Lacing her fingers with Yuna's, she barely hesitated before kicking the chair from under her feet and letting herself dangle in the air. Her grip was slackening on her lover's hand, but they were still entwined. Senses fading, she saw nothing but darkness, but in front of her, there was Yuna, radiating light and looking as beautiful in death as she had in life.
