The doorbell rang, disturbing the tranquility of a quiet Friday evening. Silence ensued. The doorbell rang again, this time waking me from my sleep.1
"The pizza is here, Melissa!" I shouted as I hurried towards the door.2
I opened the light wooden door with ease and was greeted by a young blonde girl.3
"That will be $9.99 sir" she said softly as she handed me the pizza.4
"Thank you," I replied.5
"What's that awful smell?" She asked suddenly.6
I sniffed the air for a moment. "You're right! It sure does smell out here," I concurred. She gave me a puzzled look for a moment. I returned the look of bewilderment and then suddenly slammed the door shut in her face. 7
I turned to go bring back the pizza to Melissa when I realized that I had not paid the pizza girl still standing outside my door. I turned and opened the door again. I reached into my pocket grabbing everything in it, knowing I had a twenty in there somewhere, and threw it all at her. Unfortunatly for the girl, I had a small glass bottle of arsenious oxide powder in my pocket also, which shattered upon impact with her forehead and emptying its contents into her left eye.8
Her panicked screams and pleas for help nearly deafened me.9
"At least I gave you a twenty, that's a ten dollar tip," I said calmly trying to console her.10
"You'd better come inside," I said at last as I helped her in the door. I brought her slowly into the living room and sat her down on the couch across from Melissa's chair.11
"We, have company Melissa, I have to wash this poor girls eye out before she becomes irreversibly blind." I said.12
"I see," said Melissa casually.13
The girl sat on the couch sobbing covering her face while I went off to find something to clean her eyes with. I returned moments later with a turkey baster and dish soap. 14
"Try this," I said and handed her the impliments. It was then I realized I had left the pizza outside on the doorstep.15
When I returned with the pizza I found the girl staring at Melissa. "Staring is rude you know," I informed her.16
The girl looked at me, her left eye was red and swollen with blood oozing out. A few shards of glass were imbedded in her forehead as well. She was about to speak but I cut her off, "You're eye isn't looking to good there sweetheart. Is it Melissa?"17
"No not at all my love," said Melissa.18
"You just said that," the girl said quietly.19
"Said what?" I asked20
The girl stood up abruptly and ran out the door.21
"How impolite," I said as I sat down across from Melissa and put the pizza on the table.22
I looked up at Melissa. She was so beautiful sitting there.. Looking back at me with love in her eyes.23
"I love you Melissa," I said softly.24
"I love you too," she whispered.25
We had always loved eachother. More than anything else in the whole world... And I knew deep down we always would. After all, Melissa and I had been together for 2 years. Too bad she was only alive for one of them.26
"Hey Melissa... Wanna fuck?"27
"I'd love to!"28
