Head Games

“PLEASE” Amanda’s best friend pleaded, tugging at her arm and giving her an over exaggerated pout as they slammed their locker doors and started towards their first period class. 11

It was thursday and Aime was trying to talk Amanda into going to a party the next day, as her wing man. Neither girl partied very much but Aime had been invited by her crush. She really wanted to go but didn’t want to go alone. 22

Amanda gave her guilty look. “Sorry Aim.” 33

“C’mon” Aime begged. “It’ll be fun! You never party. Just once. Cut loose a little.” 44

Amanda stared at her rambling friend and knew she wouldn’t let up until Amanda gave in so she sighed “Alright. FINE.” She said rolling her eyes. 55

Aime was right Amanda didn’t party much. She liked to occasionally but it just so happened she was one of those girls no one invited to parties. Most of the cool kids were nice to her and it wasn’t as if she was ugly. She was actually very pretty, with her long straight, dark, coffee colored hair fair skin, and curvy body. They just seemed to be scared off by her. She wasn’t the type of person that would conform to a certain way to fit in with the group and she suspected that was what made the conformers nervous around her. 66

She laughed to herself, as she said good bye to Aime at the door to Mrs. Sweele's English class went in and took her seat. Aim's right she thought I'm going to cut loose a little this weekend. Have a little fun. With that thought she put the party out of her mind best she could for the rest of the day. 77

The next day Amanda could tell Aime was trying hard not to babble about the party. She did fairly well until the two girls sat down for lunch. Aime's crush Jared walked by the table where they always sat, just the two of them. Jared was probably on his way to the "cool table" across the cafeteria. He slowed by their table though. 88

"Hey Aim" he said sliding onto the bench next to her.
Aime's face got a little red and she grinned. "Hey."99

"You're still coming tonight right?" he asked actually looking a little concerned. Like Aime would change her mind!1010

Aime gave a little giggle, confirming Amanda's thought of her giving up this party as bogus. "Yea I'll be there" she said, then motioned to me "Manda is going to come if that's ok."1111

Jared grinned at Amanda "Yeah that sounds cool."
Amanda gave him a small smile, trying to seem indifferent. The table was quiet for about 4 long heart beats. Then Jared broke the silence saying "I better get going," he said, half rising "I have to help Zack study for his math test."
Both girls smiled at him and he told them he'd see them the next night. Amanda liked Jared. He seemed genuinely nice and she was glad he had noticed Aime, she just hoped it worked out.
Across the table Aime was grinning. Amanda laughed.
"Did that just happen?" Aime asked her.
"It sure did Aimus," Amanda told her grinning, then going back to eating. The girls finished lunch in an excited silence. Even Amanda was getting a little excited to be able to let loose. 1212

The next night the girls were standing side by side in the mirror in Amanda's room.
"We look good," Amanda decided studying their reflection. She had on a pair of jeans that showed off her curves well and had a dark swirl down one leg and a sparkley blue sleeveless shirt that fit a little tight and complimented her eyes perfectly. Aime had on a decent but not to long jean skirt and a slinky black top.
"Yea we do," Aime agreed spinning a little. "Ready?" she asked.
Amanda nodded and they started down the stairs.
Her parents were watching tv in the rec room. Amanda popped her head in the door. "We're going," she announced. Her parents looked up and nodded "Drive safe and let me know when you get home," her mom told her. Amanda nodded "Ok guys see you later."1313

The girls had talked Amanda's mom into letting them take her nice truck. It was an 2008 GMC Sierra, the big version and it was candy apple red. The school the girls went to could be considered a hick school and everyone in it was a little redneck and would all adore the truck.
Aime couldn't stop grinning as they climbed in and it's diesel engine roared to life. Her smiles were contagious and Amanda couldn't help but grin back as they drove off in the direction of the party. 1414

The party was in full swing when they pulled in and parked next to the curb at quarter to nine. The house was fairly big and the girls could see it had spilled over into a tent in the back yard. Music blared and pulsed through them as they jumped out of the truck and started toward the door. 1515

As they made their way up the walk, Jared and one of his friends came out of the house. Jared's and Aime's faces lit up when they spotted each other. Jared beamed at the girls "Glad you guys came!"
Both girls smiled and nodded. Amanda's eyes landed on Jared's friend. His name was Pat. He was tall not quite as tall as Jared who was the star of the basket ball team but tall and he had a nice body that his low riding jeans and plain black shirt were doing a good job of showing off. He had dark hair and dark blue eyes that stood out because of his tan. He realized Amanda was looking him up and down and gave her a small almost shy but still cocky grin. Amanda fought the urge to roll her eyes and smiled back. 1616

"You guys want some drinks?" Jared was asking excitedly. Huh Amanda though who knew Mr. Basket ball star hunk would be excited by getting her best friend a drink.
"Sure!" Aime answered him.
"No thanks," Amanda told him, she wasn't drinking alcohol because she was driving and she knew that's what Jared was asking.
"I'll find you a DD if you want." Jared offered glancing at a still silent Pat. For some reason the idea of Pat driving them home scared Amanda.
"No that's ok," she told Jared "I don't mind besides I have the big truck and I don't want to leave it or have someone else drive."
Jared nodded understanding then turned back to Aime "Want to come with me?" he asked her "Drinks are in the pantry."
She looked at Amanda and when Amanda nodded grinned at him. He grinned back and slipped his arm over her shoulders. Amanda noticed he paused to make sure she was ok with it before he kept walking. Amanda smiled as she watched them walk away. 1717

Amanda turned to scan the crowd she could see through the doorway and remembered she was still standing with Pat. She grinned at him and thought what the hell. He was good looking and she was here to cut loose. "Wana dance?" she asked giving him a goofy but suggestive look. He gave her that same shy/cocky grin again and this time she appreciated the cuteness of it.
"Sure," he said taking her hand in his and leading her into the house, through a foyer and into what looked like it might have been a dinning room before it turned dance floor.
The music was some hip hop song Amanda didn't know but she could feel the beat pulsing through her. She was a little shy about dancing but decided she didn't care what any one thought. She was here to have fun and damn it that was what she was going to do. Pat grinned again as he tugged her into his arms. He started moving in time to the music and she followed his lead. The song was fast and they started to really get into it, coming closer and grinding on each other. Amanda tipped her head back and enjoyed the beat and the feel of moving in time with him until the song was over. Pat grinned down at her.
"Thanks for the dance," he said still holding her hand. "You thirsty?" he asked. She nodded and he told her "C'mom I'm DDing to I know where there's some soda." Amanda smiled to herself as he lead her through the crowd. They ended up in the kitchen and Pat dropped her hand to go into the large pantry. He rooted around for a few minutes and come out triumphantly holding up two cokes. He went to hand one to Amanda, then thought better of it. "Hold on a sec," he told her, grabbing two plastic cups and poring the soda into them. He handed one to her, tossing the cans in a bag that was hung on the pantry door. "That way no one will give you a hard time," he explained.
Amanda nodded appreciating his thoughtfulness. There was a few beats of odd silence filled with sounds from other people in the kitchen and the music in the other room. Then Pat broke it by saying "So how'd Aime drag you out to a party? I thought you were a goody girl," he asked in a slightly teasing voice.
Amanda flushed, she hated that people thought of her as a good girl. Pat saw the flush and tried to back track “I didn’t mean…” he started. She gave him a smile/grimace.
“It’s ok,” she told him “A lot of people think I’m one of those kids that just stays home and buries my nose in books. I’m not really; I just don’t get much chance to party.” 18

Pat nodded still seeming slightly embarrassed that he’d brought it up. Wow Amanda thought. She’d never realized that the popular guys had hearts and were nice to people outside their little realm of cool people but Pat was trying to be decent to her and Jared seemed like he was really into Aime. 19

As if reading her mind Pat mused a loud “Ya know Jer’s really a good guy and he really seems to like Aime.”
Amanda smiled at him “He seems sincere,” she said “I had my doubts at first but seeing him with her…” 20

Pat laughed and looked out through the kitchen door to where people were dancing “Yea I know what you mean,” he said “It’s like a light switch when they see each other.” 21

Amanda nodded, sipping her coke. Amanda laughed a little to herself then asked “What about you?”22

Pat just looked at her, a sly grin playing at his lips. “What do you mean?” he asked.23

She smiled chuckling a little as she asked “got anyone that lights you up?”

It was OK. I guess it was a typical teen story. I have to say, I LOVED the ending. That was really good.

good story, like the characters but before i get to them I'm just going to say this once. Commas- use them. I found too many commas were lacking to point them all out.
this may be a stupid question bit what's DD?
like the story, loved the last line btw,
it seems that amanda's gonna get with pat and aime's gonna get with jared. but now i want to know how it's not quite typical?

A good write so far. I love the name Aime.

Some itches I had with this were:

You have some grammar mistakes. For instance, before the quotations end you need some sort of puncuation. If its a comma, period, question mark, any of those.

I also wish you would add some more descriptions to your characters.

Good luck writing more! I really want to see what you name this story and how it will turn out!
