7. Kael Bryant was born in England on February 19, 1344. Originally his family had been of nobility, but as the plague struck England poverty became more common, even among the nobility ranked families. He had both his parents and a younger sister, Lucinda. When he was about 5 his father caught the septicemic plague and died, leaving him the only male of the household. As he grew older his mother caught the bubonic plagues and she died by the time he was 11. Orphaned and left responsible for his younger sister, he ended up spending his childhood and early adulthood caring for his sister and working to support th both of them. With so many deaths and ill people, those of healthy blood were lacking and Kael, now 18, was marked the prey of a vampire passing through his town. He managed to escape with his life, but at a great toll; his humanity. Spending a great amount of time in pain as his body reconstructed itself, he ended up going a a blood lust, killing more people than he could count. Upon waking the following morning, now in control and come to realization of what he was, he abandoned his sister and left his home, afraid he would take the life of his sister. Becoming a vampire granted him the ability to read the minds of others.8

Now in present day times, Kael has gained greater control over his instincts and in an effort to blend in with society by attending a local high school and keeping a low profile. He finds it difficult to socialize, and especially difficult to socialize with members of the opposite gender. He'd never had the chance to date of wed, or physically or emotionally get close to any one since his family back in the 1350s. That is until he fell for a new transfer student, Heilia Vesky.9

9. Kael doesn't like being forced to go against his will, though he tolerates it from Heilia, nor does he like vampire stereotypes or the thought of taking Heilia's humanity from her. He dislikes physical contact. He likes Heilia and Amintore, and tolerates Lilith, and also likes literature and music. He likes spending his time with Heilia and learning new things, but only to an extent.11

10: Kael is protective, watchful, wise, romantic, sweet, gentle, and strong. He wants Heilia to be happy no matter what the cost, though he refuses to give into her desire for him to change her.12

11. Kael is aggressive occupationally and doesn't likes things to go his way. He can sometimes be a bit of a grump or even a bit whiny. He is especially violent when it comes to protecting Heilia, and is afraid to fail her. He doesn't like being unable to completely understand situations. He has a problem with freezing up, leaving him defenseless and immobile, with even the slightest display of affection (like hugs...), until later on when he gains feelings for Heilia too.13

12. He wants Heilia to be happy and live a rich fulfilling life. He blames himself for interfering with her life14

13. Kael loves Heilia too much to leave her to live a normal life. After revealing the existence of vampires to Heilia, both he as an offender and she as a risk to revealing their kind are opposed by a new and stronger threat; another vampire.15

15. Kael is very dignified and well respected. He feels he isn't worth as much as others seem to think he is; he isn't worth others struggling to keep him satisfied and alive, but at the same time he doesn't feel quite ready for death. He never someone he cares about to get hurt or killed for his sake and would sooner die than let Heilia get injured or hurt.17

Second section: (100 - 400 words)18

It seemed so perfectly quiet in the stillness of night, crickets chimed and a slight breeze rattled dry leaves, twirling them in weak miniature tornadoes. The serene silence was interrupted by the small giggles of a girl, whose frail pale arms held on to the stronger arm of a beautiful man.
She had a cute rosy blush, enhanced against her pale skin and sweet sapphire eyes, that matched the dress she wore. She possessed a thin curvy figure, that would appeal to the eye of many a man, and long black hair, held up in a high pony tail by a blue ribbon. Slender eyebrows with a high arch rested upon her brow and her thin lightly pinked lips met his.
He was much more pale than she, his skin having almost no color to it. He had deep passionate amethyst eyes and even more passionate affectionate touch, especially when they met to kiss like they did now. He wore all black, a shirt slightly opened at the top revealing his muscles, and black denim jeans, along with his heavy boots.
As they separated her blush became even more noticeable, and his arms wrapped around her, both with an affectionate and protective hold.
"Keep still," he whispered to her, moving silently into the darkness of an alley, bringing her with him. Her heart raced with a sudden fear and he faced her, now with complete seriousness. "Stop that!" he told her still in a hushed voice. She didn't speak to him verbally, but instead mentally, trying to be quiet as he had asked of her.
'What's wrong?' her thoughts asked him, distressed.
He peered out the ally keeping hidden in the darkness, watching with anticipation. "He's back, but you need to calm down... Your heart is beating to loudly..." he explained quietly. By "he" he had meant Clarence, the vampire who'd been hunting them down for her knowing their secret and him for telling her. He didn't want the secret of the existence of vampires being let out and would take any measures necessary to keep those secrets.
She panicked more, her heart beating faster and louder, as a menacing laughter sounded into the darkness. Kael pulled her closer, cursing under his breathe.
"Don't worry," he reassured her as the man appeared from the alley's opening. He growled a low threatening growl, cautioning the opponent who didn't seem as if he would willingly back down. It would be tonight the vampires would clash once more, both to protect something they found importance in; whether it be the life of Kael's only love or the secret of Clarence and Kael being vampires.
'Tonight,' both thought in unison, 'this battle will be brought to an end.'19
