Dirty Girl 2

For  Lee, who I’ve only known for years, but only recently seen as the guy I want to be with.1

After the homeless drive, I wanted to see Lee more and more.  It made me crazy that we didn’t go to the same high school.  I didn’t get to see him as often as the other guys, who I saw everyday since they went to the same school as me. 2

It was a little less than two weeks later that I saw him again.  We were all at Kenzie’s house one night.  We were in the basement playing playstation 2.  It was a pretty awesome basement since Kenzie is rich.  It was carpeted and renovated and it had couches and a huge plasma television.3

Robin and I came later because he was driving me and his parents had taken forever.  When I went downstairs I sat beside Lee.  I didn’t really know what to do.  It wasn’t as if I hadn’t liked guys before.  It’s just that it was Lee.  I couldn’t really flirt with him because he probably wouldn’t think that I was.4

So I just acted like I normally would.  Except now every little touch was magnified.  Every time his arm grazed mine, every time our legs touched, it seemed to mean so much.  Endless questions popped into my head; “did he mean to do that?” “was that on purpose?”.  It was so weird to know that two weeks ago Lee was just Lee.5

Later on that night we had a playstation 2 football tournament.  Lee and I were a team (call it a lucky coincidence).  We played Kenzie and Nathan first.  Even though we’d played it all the time, I was still terrible at it, and I still didn’t understand it.  Lee kept trying to explain to me how to play.  He put his hands over mine in an attempt to demonstrate or something. 6

Playing that way, we actually managed to beat Kenzie and Nathan.  But they suck so it wasn’t that unusual.  When we won he jumped up and hugged me.  It wasn’t like we’d never hugged before, but my mind was going crazy wondering if it meant something or not. 7

At school the next day I was talking to Kenzie.  He sat behind me in homeroom and English.  We were supposed to be watching a movie.  Instead we were playing cards. 8

“You only won because Lee was playing for you” (we were talking about the night before)9

I laughed “yeah, I guess.  But it was a team effort!”10

“Whatever” he rolled his eyes “he was only helping you because he likes you”11

Of course this immediately caught my attention “Um…what?!”12

Unfortunately I said it a little loud and our teacher heard.  He took away the cards and gave us detention.13

But none of that really registered with me.  My mind was racing, hoping hoping hoping that what Kenzie said was true.  Then again, it’s Kenzie, so you never know…14
