The Hitchhiker (chapter 8)

I got back into the car,1

handed Tony his cell phone2

and started the car.3

Tony: "Everything okay?"4

Cynthia: "Yes, I feel better now5

that I've called my babysitter."6

Tony: "So, you have three kids, huh?"7

Cynthia: "Yes, I love them dearly."8

Tony: "I'm tired."9

Cynthia: "Me too, but I have10

to get home."11

Tony: "You don't mind if I12

drift off do you?"13

Cynthia: "No, go ahead."14

As Tony was drifting off to15

sleep, I turned on the radio.16

I needed something to keep me awake.17

I was glad that the rain18

had stopped. 19

I didn't think the storm20

was ever going to pass.21

Radio Announcer: "There was a murder22

this morning."23

I knew I shouldn't have24

turned the radio on.25

Radio Announcer: "It happened around 1:30 26

this morning."27

I wanted to turn the28

radio off, but I wanted to29

know if it was somebody I knew.30

Radio Announcer: "The name of the victim31

was not released.32

The police say the person33

was hit by a drunk driver34

on the highway."35

I hoped it wasn't someone36

I knew.37

They didn't release alot38

of details.39

Radio Announcer: "More details40

about the hit and run41

coming up in the next hour."42
