Virginia's Journey -chapter 2

Half a league away was a village full of families, workers, and friends. Through Virginia's deep ice blue eyes everyone seemed careless. She wondered deep into her mind and imagined a carefree life in her hometown with her family. Reality rushed through her like the wind and she was standing on a hill looking over the land. Enormous black storm clouds were approaching, Virginia needed to find a disguise for the the village so that she could get warm shelter without being noticed for who she really was. Quickly she started scanning the area for a disguise. Rain was coming down harder and harder every minute. Then she spotted a big, odd looking plant. Virginia rubbed her finger on an over sized leaf and found out that the plant was covered in a white mucus! Very quickly she started smearing it on her skin, as soon as the mucus touched, it stuck like glue. Virginia had a blue dress on that reached the ground so she only needed to cover her hands, face, and neck. Next she took a piece of black string that was neatly wrapped, then tied around her waist and cut a piece of with her father's knife and pulled her hair up in a tight bun. Now that she was ready, she sprinted towards protection.1

Homes of wood and businesses lined the muddy road.Men of all types worked on through the fierce rain. Virginia spotted a cute boy and asked, "um, sir, where might I find shelter at low cost?" " Two buildings down this alley and to your left. I work there, it is wonderful for the low price. My name is Louis, what is yours my lady?" Louis was looking Virginia over with his brown/green eyes when she answered, "Virginia, Virginia Copley," she was now looking at Louis's short brown hair as he spoke. "My shift is over. Do you want me to show you the way to the Inn? You are getting dreadfully wet." Virginia dreamily said, "Why, that would be oh so kind." So Louis and Virginia slowly walked in the pouring rain conversing.2
