Army base thing

“So, George, how long do ya think it’s gonna be ‘till something interestin’ ‘appens around ‘ere?” said a stubby guard.1

His voice echoed almost silently around the grey, square room. Apart from a table with two chairs and a dulled window, the room was practically featureless.2

“What?” replied George, “What could be interesting about me ear?”3

“No you idiot! Why would I talk about your ear? Do I have to spell it out for you? ME. BOB. GOT. VERY. BORING. JOB!” He began using a childish tone to his voice, “Get it now?”4

“Oh, so you’re saying that my ear…”5

Suddenly the door swung open followed by a pair of footsteps.6

“Well, well. What do we have here?” To this the two men stood up straight and saluted.7

“Two guards ready for duty!” Bob and George replied rhythmically.8

“More like two guards’ playing card games!” The general (as it said on his nameplate) strode purposefully around the room, glancing at any movement, his eyes only stopping when they reached a tinted glass window. 9

“If I were an intruder, I’d have no problems getting past you two.”10

At that moment, a scientist burst through the door holding a clipboard in his left hand.11

“General, I have the results right here!” the scientist’s voice full of excitement as he handed the clipboard over.12

“Hmmm. Very interesting.” said the general calmly. A smile broke out on his face as he looked again through the tinted window to the next rooms occupants.13
