A prologue

April swam and swam until she could barely move. Her mousy brown hair was already clinging to her frozen face, grabbing for her eyes. It was just behind her. That thing with those piercing eyes- one red, one green- was eventually edging closer to her, ready to finish the hunt. The only way to escape would be to muster up the strength to swim to the next island. The beast was now no more than twenty metres away, and time was growing short. As she came over shallow water, April finally reached land, and the pursuer stopped. Her bright blue Musto swimwear had now started to fade, and covered in sand, the fifteen year old girl passed out.
