Tick - Tock: the Clock

The embodiment of time.
The proof of the never ending cycle,
Of an unrepeatable thing,
Of the moment, lost.1

Listen to it's rythm.
The metronome of life.
Tick-tock, tick-tock,
tick-tock, tick.2

Listen to it's rhyme.
It's snake-like sound.
What is now-
now is no more.3

Watch it's hands.
They walk you through life.
An abnormality of life,
It's three pointers of time.4

A spirit with no end.
A singer with no rest.
Click-clock, click-clock,
Click-clock, click

Author notes

I wrote this one night after being forced to go shopping with my mom and sister for hours at JC Penney, and looking at a clock for a few minutes.

I loved this poem. Reading it made me become very aware of the clock I have sitting my on desk and I could really hear the pace of the poem matching the ticking of my clock. Im right in the middle of my uni exams at the moment and I know what its like to finish and exam early only to sit there and watch the hands on the clock tick round endlessly! lol. Thats if I finnish early of corse, usually Im scribbling right up untill the last minute, lol. But well done with this poem, I liked it a lot.

    Awesome

I like it. I like poetry that makes an ordinary object look like something extraordinary. I remember reading a poem of a pinata... I need an accent there... that showed it had emotion when the greedy, savage kids beat the life out of it, for it's rich inners. Candy. This reminds me of that. Great work! You MUST have been in JC Penny a long time. I look forward to more from you!
