I awoke amongst a field of Lillie's, alone and scared. The sun shone down as it did every June morning. Today was different though, today was the day they sentenced the fairy. The poor, beautiful fairy. The one I was placed in this field to await trial for.1
She had made one mistake, had chosen to play the game of love, and had lost. She chose a dreadful man, one who was deceitful and cruel. He had used her and her name, had tried to kill the king of the worlds. And in the end it was her wings that fell off, not his.2
"Are you awake? The king is waiting on you."3
A raised my head to find a grungy looking man staring at me, his face showing his nervousness. He had it right to be scared, if I chose to I could destroy him, could destroy them all. All it took was one wish and I'd get it at my command. Today was not the day for that though.4
"Yes sir, thank you." As I rose my knees shook and I stabilized myself with my hands for a moment.5
"Would you like some help Miss?"6
"No thank you, I'm quite alright."7
"Aiye, follow me then."8
I did as I was told and followed him through the field, passed the merchants selling things on the trail, and into the house made of glass. I heard them whisper and sneer at me as I walked by, none of them my best-est of friends. 9
"My lady, please place your hand on the Bible of Magickal Rules. Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you Goddess?"10
"I swear I do your majesty."11
"Good, now then please take your place on the stand and tell us what you know."12
The cold of the chair made me get goosebumps. The fairies and wizards made me have stage fright. And the truth made me nervous, because that fairy - that "criminal" - was my friend. Still I told my story.... 13

"It was cold out and me and Starz were talking. We usually go to the bakery and talk over our green tea, but that day she said she had something highly important to tell me, so instead we sat near the unicorns grazing in the fields."15
"You won't believe it, you won't believe it!" Her eyes just about popped out of her head and that sort of frightened me. If there was one thing I knew about Starz it was that she didn't get excited easily.16
"What is it...tell me already. You're making me nervous!"17
"I met a man!"18
"A man...as in man man, or fairy man ?"19
"Man man, I swear! It was incredible!"20
"That's great Starz, I'm really happy for you. What's his name?"21
"Joseph..Joseph Mackinney."22
My eyes seemed to pop out on their own. I was shocked and dumbfounded to say the least. I knew that man, a long time ago. A time before the king came in, a time when Joseph Mackinney thought of himself as the king. He wasn't in my good books.23
"No Starz, no. That man, he may seem nice, but really he is not!"24
"What are you talking about? He's so sweet and he asked me to be his fairy!"25
"Yes so that he can use you and try to steal your magick. He's very greedy and mulipitive, he paints colorful pictures before your eyes and then shatters them with grey!"26
"You're just jealous because I have a man and you don't. You're just jealous Clover sun!"27
Before I could catch her she flew away. If she were a witch such as myself I could have caught her. I could have caught her arm and knocked some sense into her, but I couldn't because she's a fairy and I can't fly.28
I spent my days being very depressed. I didn't pay attention to the palace's gossip, to my niece speaking of her ball, I couldn't even sleep at night. I was over worried, so worried I couldn't even cast one spell, not even for a simple cold.29
It came six days later, I heard it from my Father's servant. Someone had tried to kill the king and had failed greatly. At first I thought nothing of it, merely walked away, it the farthest thing from my mind. Then I read the paper over my Hot Cider and found his name. Joseph Mackinney sprawled across the headline. 30
After that I can't tell you how I felt. Ashamed, guilty, possibly a little mad that she had not believed me. Because I knew, knew deep in my heart that she was involved, and it was already to late to save her.31
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~32
"Is that all?" The majesty's voice interrupted my thoughts, bringing me back to the present.33
"Yes your Highness."34
"You are dismissed then, please step down."35
I did as I was told and took a seat on Starz side of the courtroom. I couldn't help but notice she had a tear in her eye.36
"Starz please stand as we read your fate."37
She obeyed and stood standing, facing the jury made of magickal pixies. Her own kind against her.38
"We the jury find the defendant, Starz, guilty of attempted murder against the King himself."39
Suddenly the room was filled with chatter, the onlookers awed by what they had just heard. I sat there numb as I watched them place the chains on her, her face scared and tear stained.40
As they took her away forever she quietly whispered "I love you, I'm sorry." And as the old oak door closed behind her, I whispered "I love you too."
Well written. My favorite part is in paragraph 26 "...he paints colorful pictures...and shatters them grey" I don't know why but that was a great piece of imagery that really stood out. The emotion is very raw and you can tell the narrator loves her friend but cannot lie to save her because it's beyond her control. My only question I have is how the murder was attempted. I know I'm macabre. Loved it.
Wow, this was very good- I only wish it was longer! Although it didn't follow prompts, you were very creative, and I really enjoyed this piece. The words flowed very well together, and the whole story just captured my attention straightaway. There was nothing I didn't like about this- the whole thing was just so good and well written. Great job, and well done.
