The Planet Zob! Fantasy Story

THE PLANET ZOB!

Trapped!

I hate being trapped in this huge city with a

big oxygen bubble on top. If only I could be free in

this world like my ancestors.

Chapter 1

The year was 3694.

I've discovered a tin box with a lock on it. I've broken the lock with a stone. I think it's a time capsule. Apparently it's from my great great great great grandmother.

There's a letter in the time capsule that says I have to go on an adventure

to find some tree seeds and plant them.So our world can be how it used to be. The only thing is I haven't told my parents yet and I don't think they'll let me go. Here goes!

"Mum, I found a time capsule from one of my Great Grandmothers. She says I have to go on an adventure to find some seeds and plant them so we don't have to live in this dome! Can I go mum , can I ?"

" I'll have to talk to your father!" she said.

I knew by that exactly what she meant and that was no. I'd have to live in this upside down plastic bowl for the rest of my life. AND I HATE IT!!!

Just then my mum came in.

"I've been talking to your dad and we've agreed to let you go, BUT... only if you take with you two of our four pets."

"Great mum, thanks. "

With that mum got up and slowly closed the door behind her. I think I'll choose Jangles which is a ginger and black cat and Grout a black bird. All of a sudden a hole opened in the ground and bubbling in the hole was black lava. Out jumped Jangles and flying behind him was a black looking bird Grout. To my surprise they were clean and yet they had just come out of this bubbling hot black lava. The bird Grout flew around then landed on a dead tree.

Even more surprising he opened his mouth and said,

"Thanks for choosing me and Jangles . We make a great team .But we really can't be dealing with this idle chatter, so let's get on with this adventure. Come on then, jump in." said Grout.

"But I'll burn in there." I said.

"No, you won't, this is a fantasy story, remember!" reminded Jangles, the ginger cat.

I jumped in scared that I still might burn and that I might never see the light of day again...

Chapter 2

So there I was getting sucked into the burning black lava. I was so scared, then all of a sudden, BANG! BOOM! CRASH! SPLAT! There was a big flash of lightening and I had fallen on what seemed like a purple planet with green spots. My leg was hurting and it was cut, blood was squirting out. I must have cut it when I fell. But I don't understand, how could I be one minute in a tub of black lava and the next on a purple and green planet.

I stood up and looked around. I could see Jangles and Grout in the distance in the smoky mist. Then something caught my eye, something sparkling. I walked towards it trying to see through the mist. It was like an old fashioned car. It was silver and sparkling clean. It must be a sand buggy, I thought. By now I could see Jangles and Grout in the corner of my eye. As they approached me they said "Wow, what's that?"

"But I thought you'd know that! You seem to know more about this adventure than I do!" I said puzzled.

"Well, whatever it is, let's see if it works!" persuaded Grout.

"I can't drive!!!" I said, shocked by what Grout had said.

"Well NOW's the time to learn" Jangles said amused by his image of me driving.

We all got in to the sand buggy. The keys were already in the ignition. I slowly turned the key, scared by what was going to happen to us. As I did so, the engine stopped and then stalled. I turned the key again, still worried. This time it didn't stall. It roared as we zoomed off into the distance, crazily out of control. I found myself going from one side of my seat to the other and my hands turning the steering wheel every way possible. Then I saw in front of me a giant stone wall. I quickly closed my eyes and turned the steering wheel to the right. I opened them to find that we had gone through the wall. It was as if , the wall wasn't there. I stopped the buggy . "I told you , I can't drive." I said.

"Yes, but this is a fantasy story. Even if you can't drive in real life, you will be able to in this story. Besides this is an adventure and anything is possible." said Jangles.

I started the engine again and drove off down the bumpy purple road, frightened by what I might find at the end of it. Suddenly I could see in front of me a wooden barrier going across the road with a desert behind it. It had a pink looking box at the side of it. It had a couple of buttons and a hole like a ticket dispensing slot . I pressed one of the blue buttons and to my amazement the wooden barrier lifted up, as it did so I heard what sounded like someones tummy rumbling.

"What's that?" I said. "There it is again, that noise." I looked at Jangles and Grout for a reply but they both looked as puzzled as I was.

Then Jangles said "Why don't we use one of these strange looking tools from the back of the sand buggy."

"Yeah, maybe they might tell us what that strange noise is. "Grout said.

I grabbed what looked like a torch, it almost looked luminous in the mist. I turned it around in my hand and then saw a red button. I pressed it to find out that it was a torch with a beam of light that must have gone on for at least two miles. I heard the rumbling noise again. By this time it was a lot louder and the ground was beginning to shake. Me, Jangles and Grout just looked at each other worriedly. The noise seemed to be coming from the left. So I quickly shone the torch in that direction. We all gasped at what we saw, a stampede of Giant ants ran past us. We were all in a state of shock and terrified by what we had just seen!

As we sat in the buggy we could see the ground slowly getting closer and closer to us. We were in quicksand. I struggled to get out of the buggy and push it out of the quicksand. I pushed with all my might but it just wouldn't move. I guess it didn't help when I kept slipping. Jangles got out of the buggy to help me move it out of the quicksand. It began to move, slowly at first, then faster as it slipped and skidded .

I said " Which way shall we go?"

"I think we should go right." said Grout.

Then Jangles said "No, we should go to the left. Because if we were to go right we will bump into the giant ants again."

"OK left it is then."

I turned the steering wheel to the left, still struggling as I hadn't got the hang of driving. After a while I saw an old haunted house. I decided to knock on the door to see if anybody was inside. I climbed up some old collapsed steps to get to the door. I knocked on it, scared that Dracula or something was going to appear before me, instead I heard what sounded like water running. Suddenly a huge gush of water burst out of the two old wooden doors. The next minute I found myself trying to get on an old fireplace because it was too difficult swimming in this deep, fast running water.

After an hour or so later the water was still. Grout was flying high above us. Me and Jangles decided to risk swimming in the deep water....

Chapter 3

As we swam it seemed the water had swept us away to the citadel in the dark mountains. As the water became shallow I could hear footsteps behind me. Then suddenly a green tattered net went over me. We had been captured by the oxygen thieves. They took us into a dark mouldy prison cell in the citadel.

The jailer was a kind old man, but he often used to forget my dinner, not that it was much of a dinner. It was bread and water.

One day after he gave me my dinner he forgot to take his keys out of the lock on the door. I got up hoping he wouldn't come back for them. I twisted my hand around the bars of the prison door trying to get the keys. My middle finger just touched the keys , they swung back and forth, I grabbed them, I had the keys in my hand . I twisted my hand more to turn the keys in the lock. Then the door swung open squeaking, I hoped no-one had heard. Then I heard a noise it was one of the oxygen thieves walking down the nearby stairs. I quickly hid behind a pillar. I could hear the oxygen thief walking towards me. Suddenly an old wrinkled up face peered round the pillar. It wasn't an oxygen thief it was the old jailer he had come down to collect his keys.

"Shh, " I said, putting my hand around his mouth, scared he was going to tell the oxygen thieves.

He slowly took my hand away from his mouth and said "Don't worry, I won't tell, I'll help you escape."

We unlocked the two other prison cells and released Jangles and Grout. As we ran out of the citadel we could see the oxygen thieves running after us. We came to four escape routes out of the dark mountain. We had to decide quickly before the oxygen thieves got us. One way was a giant dragon that read your thoughts if you dared to cross it, another way had a deadly spider and another a nest of giant acid ants.

" Which way shall we go? " said Grout , flying overhead.

" Lets go this way. " said Jangles pointing the way with giant ants in it. Then I found myself getting chased by not only the oxygen thieves but the stampede of giant ants. The ants were getting closer. Grout was O.k. he was flying high above us, but Jangles was far behind me and only a metre away from the ants. Then I screeched to a halt ! There was a Huge hole in the ground. But Jangles didn't see it.

"Jangles LOOK OUT " I screamed.

But it was too late. Jangles had fallen in a never ending hole. Tears filled my eyes. The ants went into a nearby passage which was the ants nest. I had to save Jangles. I grabbed the unbreakable rope and tied it to a dead tree. I then began to climb down the hole. The rope was nearly coming to an end, when I saw Jangles on a nearby ledge. He was laying down , he looked weak and tired, he had blood on his paw. I tried to swing myself onto the ledge. It was all sandy. A gust of wind went in my face as I sat on the ledge. Jangles closed his eyes for what I thought was the last time. For it was only going to be me and Grout in this adventure now. Tears rolled down my face as I climbed back up the rope. Grout looked sad too as we slowly walked quietly out of the dark mountains...

Chapter 4

We had been driving for several days now. I was still behind schedule, then I saw a river with a boat at the side of it. We got in. After several hours on the river I saw a waterfall. I was going to die! It was a big fall. But I had to survive. I had to save our World. I didn't want to live in a Dome for the rest of my life. Then a big wave went over my head as we fell down the waterfall. The salty water went in my eyes. The water was so cold. Then I realised I was alive! And yet, I had just fallen down this waterfall. Then suddenly a giant Bat came flying from behind us.

"Isn't that Jangles on his back." cried out Grout above the crashing waves. "Yes, it is." I said.

The giant Bat swooped down by the boat. Jangles jumped off his back and into the boat.

"But I thought you were dead." I said, puzzled by what had just happened. "Ah, yes, but this is a fantasy story and anything is possible." Jangles said, laughingly.

Then suddenly a spear flew in front of my eyes and nearly cut my nose off. The boat came to a sudden stop, as if by magic. A tribe of blue looking Odd bods came towards us! The Ugliest of them all, who had a spike at the top of his head and piercing purple eyes, I assumed to be the Chief, signalled with his hands and mumbled jibberish. The others responded by grabbing us and taking us away. I didn't want to go, but had no choice. There was this sharp spear which I could feel pushing into the flesh of my neck. We were then walking for what seemed like a lifetime. Then we stopped and old spike head kept pointing to a rusty old looking cage. The sharpness of the spear started to bite again on my nerves as we were herded into the cage which now was lifting up. They took us through the forest until an opening revealed what we guessed must have been their camp. A few mud huts. In the centre stood a large black pot. I had a nasty feeling that we were about to become their next meal?

I was wrong! They took us into one of the mud huts. They squeezed the cage through an opening in the hut, it seemed that inside it was a Huge hall like in a fairytale castle. There sat in front of us was a King and his Queen on lime coloured velvet cushions on the floor. Beside the King was a bowl of dried up Earwigs and nail clippings. He offered them to us. I shook my hand at this as if to say no. When they were offered to Grout, he licked his lips; now who ever heard of a bird that could lick its lips, still this is a fantasy story!

He picked some up and swallowed hungrily, and said, "Mmmm that's tasty".

The King and Queen were part of the Human race. The courtiers were blue like the odd bods. Then one of the courtiers was instructed to take us all to our rooms. I said Good night to the King and Queen. and soon fell asleep.

When I awoke my face was wet and I was in the boat. It had all been a dream, but now I needed to pay attention to what was loomimg up ahead of us.....

Chapter 5

There ahead of us was another waterfall. It wasn't as large as the first, it was more like the type you see on a log flume or water chute at a Theme park. As we approached the edge we slowly went over. But when we came to the end of the waterfall the boat headed for some rocks at the side. The boat hit a few rocks and managed to make a small hole in the boat. The salty water filled it. The boat began to sink. Jangles and I had to swim for it as Grout flew high above us.

Then we came to another mountain but the only way to climb the mountain was to go through one of three valleys. Each valley was guarded by a monster that I had to fight. So which valley shall we go through?

In the end we chose one that had a dragon guarding it. As we entered the valley we saw a beam of light coming towards us. It was the dragons X-ray vision.

Then a deep voice said " So you dared to enter my valley I see. Well you'll have to fight me first." It was Megatroth.

" You've got it Megatroth, I'll fight you to get past." I said feeling daring. Then I felt what was like another stampede. But it wasn't. It was Megatroth stamping his giant feet as he came towards me. Megatroth looked at me with his X-ray vision eyes horrified that I had entered his valley. Then he closed his mouth, swallowed then spat green slimy stuff that looked like green coloured snot. It just missed my foot. It was poisonous to all human beings and it would immediately paralyse you forever. Megatroth was determined to paralyse me with his poisonous spit. I kept dodging the spit so did Jangles, Grout just flew above me cheering me on. Then Megatroth stopped , lifted his head and said in his angry deep voice " I'll get you yet."

Then I realised that everybody has a weak point. I saw it, under his chin where his poison was stored . I climbed up his clawed giant foot . As he spat the green slime at me he was hurting himself in the process of trying to get me . Then he lifted his foot with me on it to his ugly face. As he aimed his spit at me I dived to the side of his foot as the spit landed where I was standing. Then I shouted " Grout Now, get his weak point under his chin. "

Grout dived down in the air and stabbed his weak point where his poison was stored. As he did so I got my salt tablets and threw them into the dragons eyes. Megatroth closed his eyes, opened them, gave me a look that kills and fell to the ground crushing me in the process between his foot I was on and his head. Thank God, he was dead....

Chapter 6

It was quite a steep hill through the valley. Then I came to a field of green grass which was the last field of grass in England. At least since the pollution in the ST century. You see the waterfall brought me back to Britain. Then there it was, the last rabbit in England. It was sitting down at the edge of the field nibbling a tuft of grass. It was a pretty thing but Jangles didn't think so. He growled at it and snarled as soon as he saw it.

The rabbit ran off towards the centre of the field where a sparkling polished steel door emerged from nowhere. It seemed to be floating about 10 centimetres above the ground. The rabbit stopped in front of it and sniffed the air. The rabbit told me that I had to crack a code in order to open the door in which I would find the seeds to save the future generations of the human race.

The rabbit told me a poem which had missing words. I had to guess the missing words and rearrange the letters to form a well known password. What could it be? I spent hours arranging the letters as it was vital that I got the code first time. Eventually after several hours of studying it, I cracked it. Would you believe it was OPEN SESAME. I entered the letters in the lock and turned the handle. As the door swung open I saw a little cardboard box that said SEEDS on the side of it. It was on a clean looking white wooden shelf. I picked the tattered box up and lifted the lid . Inside was small packets of seeds that said on them names like: Oak Sycamore Beach Cherry Maple Poplar Willow Ash Chestnut and so on. There were loads of them.

I carefully put the packets of seeds in my pocket. This is one of the best days of my life as I would not be living in a upside down plastic bowl for much longer. I am now free in this world like my ancestors amongst the wild flowers , trees and grasses.

Chapter 7

As my journey led me home, I could see my family and friends waving to me through the glass dome. As I approached them my legs began to ache. At the same time I felt a sense of joy that my long tiring adventure I was home. Mind you if I had the chance to do it again; to fight the dragon, to nearly die when I went down the waterfall, to meet the rabbit, to crack the code and open the door, to get sucked into the burning bubbling lava, to learn to drive a sand buggy, to see a stampede of giant ants and to get sucked into quicksand. Then yes I would do it again. But my favourite bit of the adventure has to be my dream even though it didn't happen. I wish my dream about the odd bods and King and Queen could have really happened.

Then Jangles said "Well, this is a fantasy story and any thing's possible!"

    curious...

hmm... interesting, indeed. It does need some work. Soem of the sentences are a little sloppy and need some flow... but other than that, very interesting. I enjoyed it. Great idea. The plot had much potential. Thank you for entering my contest!
