The Greeter Peril

I've been working around Story Write AKA SW with my eyes peeled for trouble and odd appearances. I happen to stumble upon a greeter who sees the Private Eye clipboard in my arms and skips off saying, "I didn't do it."1

This has happened recently with every greeter I've happened to meet. At first I thought it might be that they don't want to get in my way of work, but then I figured out the dark truth.2

All the greeters are previous SW criminals themselves. Each one has a dark, deadly secret. I would list them all, but there are so many to list. The top three suspects of crime on my list happened to be these three:3

Vernatia: A person who believes WRONG is an opposite of LEFT.4

whichcraft: Can't decide which craft they are better at.5

Cheerful-Panda: A talking panda who is always too cheerful.6

I wrote each stunning secret on my notepad and walked off. That's when I looked back and saw the greeter people forming a huddle and speaking about whatever it is they speak about.7

I smiled and continued walking to go and pin up the facts. 8

1) I found the secret about Vernatia in the open. She should hide that a little better.9

2) whichcraft plainly asked the question, "Which craft do you prefer?"10

3) Cheerful-Panda clearly shows that they are a talking panda and are cheerful. Hence the name Cheerful-Panda.11

This is what made me laugh. "Vernatia fights Manic Black over whether WRONG is the opposite of LEFT."12

I smiled again, (I smile a lot) pinned up my long, brown hair, and hopped onto my bicycle. This is when a person titled Sage Syren stopped me dead in my tracks. "By order of Sage Syren, entry to this part of the Story Write town is prohibited by anybody other than greeters," the greeter stated clearly.13

I muttered, "Yeah right," under my breath and turned around to ride the other way. I heard a slight sigh of relief as I was leaving, which arose my suspicion even more than it was already driven. 14

The lights in the GREETER SECTION went off and I turned back around to go check it out. When I looked in the window, they were all seated around a table with a flashlight held above it. 15

"So, we fooled Private Eye, JournalismAngel."16

"Wasn't so hard."17

"You're saying too much."18

"She knows our secrets!"19

"No she doesn't."20

"I'm pretty sure she does."21

Each one was arguing and passing around ideas to each other. They all finally concluded, "This will be in the Story Write Times that I heard are going to be started! The printing press will be amazed by what stories she might have heard!"22

That's when I smirked. It was also when I fell over into the window and they all caught me. Minutes later I awoke from unconsciousness in a corner, tied up at my hands and prevented from speech by duct tape. They all stared at me and discussed something. "What do you know?"23

I eyeballed the tape over my mouth and squealed when they ripped it off. 24

"Vernatia can't find out if WRONG is opposite of LEFT!"25

Vernatia shrugged. "That's not so bad. I basically blurted that one out myself."26

"Whichcraft can't decide WHICH CRAFT she likes better."27

"My name is WHICH CRAFT," whichcraft declared with a yawn.28

My final words came out smoothly, "Cheerful-Panda is a talking panda who is always cheerful."29

CP smiled, "It's true. Hence my name!"30

In a few seconds my hands were free and the greeters were laughing with me. 31

I was yet to find out the ACTUAL secret to the greeters. But with my skill of communication and the greeters' understanding... I had a great adventure through the facts and learned a bit about snooping. 32
