Nameless

It spoke not a word, and made not a sound. Its light feet quickly dashed across the cement rooftop, as the rain poured down heavy onto it. After not very long, it had reached the edge. Looking down onto the ground nine stories below, it panicked, letting out a shrill, empty scream that could be heard for miles.1

Where am I? What is happening? Please, someone help me!2

The creation whirled around as a large group angry men chased from behind. Shouting and cursing into the wind they swung and grabbed at it. Without warning, the machine gracefully jumped high into the cloudy grey sky, landing far across on the other side of the rooftop. It sprinted over to an air conditioner and tried desperetely to hide its small soaking body behind it.3

"Look! There it is! Over there!" Shouted one of the men.4

No. Oh please no. What'd I do?5

Two burley bodyguards grabbed it by it's arms and pulled tight.6

"What do we do with it?" Asked one of them.7

"Take it back inside!" Returned a taller human in a drenched lab coat. "Do you know what we're risking with it being out in the open?"8

The two dragged the creation across the cement, as it screamed and beckoned for help from afar.9

No! Let me be! I don't want to hurt you! Just leave me alone!10

With one massive force, it pushed off from it's captures and zoomed rapidly away from them, once again reaching just another 9 story high ledge. It quickly glanced from life form to life form, carefully analyzing each of them as quickly as possible. They grew closer and closer to him.11

"He's got no where to run. He's obviously afraid of the height!" With this, a disgruntled man lurched out at him, nearly pushing them both off into the unseen ground. The rain began to pour harder, less and less of the rooftop could be seen.12

Please! Stop!13

With another high, graceful jump, the creation sent itself as far from its creators as possible. It slipped across a wet tarp and smashed it's frail metal skull onto the hard floor. A sharp pain ran through him, as he let out another shriek of peril.14

"There it is! Over there!"15

Please.... leave me..... leave me alone....16

He stumbled to his feet and slightly lifted his arms, in a last minute attempt to make peace with the enemies.17

"I don't see it!"18

I didn't.... I didn't do.... anything....19

He took a few steps forward, throwing him far off balance and again collapsing onto the roof. 20

"Well you better find it! We can't have an emotional robot running about!"21

...please...22

Using his last bit of energy, the dying robot lept into the air, higher than anyone had ever seen before!23

"NO!"24

...good.... bye.25

His final scream rang out onto the world as a flash of blinding white light shot across the clouds above the building, followed by a close clash of thunder. Bits of shrapnel fell to the earth like dust. The workers cursed down on their lonely rooftop, years of work had destroyed itself.26

"What do we do now?" Asked one man.27

"Nothing." Replied the labcoated man. "The world can never know."28

And with this, they left the rooftop.29

Author notes

The story is written with as little known facts about the creation as possible because the creation knows so little about himself, and had no time to discover itself. As the story progresses we discover more about the robot (calling him "he", learning what he is) as the robot itself learns them for itself.
