There is no Escape X

Tom looked up to see the gun now pointed at him. What did it matter if he was shot? The love of his life was slowing drifting out of reach. Anger began to pulsate through him, blood coursing through his veins. X was screaming and ran towards Pat. Pat knocked him down with any easy toss of his fist. Tom ran, screaming in sheer agony. He wanted to make this bastard pay. He saw Pat’s finger tighten around the trigger, he fired. Tom moved a little to his right and felt a searing pain in his left arm. It didn’t matter though. What was a life without love? What was a life without Mel?1

He finally reached Pat, who was smirking. X managed to kick Pat in the shins. He let out a loud groan. Tom clenched his fist and threw it straight into Pat’s face. He continued to punch Pat where ever he could. He was getting lost; he couldn’t feel his left arm any more and was sure that the punches it was giving weren’t very effective. Pat held the gun tight in his hand blood now gushing from his face. He forced the hand holding the gun into Tom’s face. Tom fell back and slid a few feet on the ground. Pat reloaded his gun and took a step forward, standing right above Tom. 2

“I guess your time is up,” he said softly. Tom was staring down the barrel of the pistol, scared beyond belief. So this was how he was going to die, this was how it was all going to end. He would die in a pool of blood, not only his own but his friends too. And the worst part about it, he was going to die lying outside of American Eagle. 3

Before he knew what he was doing, Tom lifted his foot and kicked Pat hard in the balls. Pat stumbled back a few feet as tears welled up in his eyes.4

“No its not,” Tom growled and got to his feet. He saw Pat aim the gun for him again and another shot of pain pumped through his body. His leg was now bleeding; another pull of the trigger and his stomach was too. Tom didn’t think he could continue any longer. The world was blurring, but he couldn’t die, not yet. He punched Pat in the stomach, face, where ever was open until Pat was up against the railing. Tom hit him one more time; no one could have thrown a punch harder than that one. Pat sunk to the floor and the gun was now held limply in his hand.5

Tom walked over to Mel, her chest moving up and down very slowly. Tom wiped a tear from his eyes and kneeled down beside her.6

“Mel? Babe?” he asked softly trying to keep his voice steady. “Mel, please, answer me. I love you, don’t do this to me. You can’t just get up and die. We still have ten types of weed to try. C’mon, please.”7

There was no response. Tom put his head down in her chest, everything was ringing he couldn’t hear Pat’s foot steps behind him. 8

“Fucker,” Pat said loudly. There was a breaking of glass and Tom heard X say a name.9

“Robbie?”10

That was the last thing Tom heard before passing out while holding Mel firmly in his grasp.11

---~12

Tom stood waiting outside of the hospital a big smile on his face. X was sitting in his car with Leah in the seat next to him. Two doctors came out of the sliding doors with the most beautiful girl in between them. She gave that wonderful smile and made the doctors quicken their pace. Tom walked toward the girl and let her fall into his arms. She was crying so hard.13

“Mel, I thought I had lost you,” Tom said to her softly putting his hand in her hair. “I love you.”14

“I love you too, Tom,” she said.15

“Will you two hurry the fuck up; we still have tons of free piercings!” X shouted through the window. He had gotten pierced again and was planning on getting tons more today. Because they had caught the murderer they asked to have $2000 worth of credit to Hot Topic rather than just $2000, they didn’t want the money. Robbie was the one to knock Pat unconscious, even though he used good vodka to do it. 16

Mel and Tom walked to the car and climbed into the back seat. 17

“Tom, you’re the most amazing person I know, I love you so damn much,” she said softly kissing his cheek.18

“Mel.”19

“Hmm?”20

“Stop being an ass,” Tom whispered and grabbed her cheek pulling her into one of the most amazing kisses anyone could ever receive.21
