(Chap.6)[Deus Voluntarius] – Periculosus Oculus

Kaleb's body was completely limp as his stepfather carried him up the stairs. 1

Why he had ever agreed to calling that man “dad”, he would never know. 2

Because he was not upright, his tears were falling straight from his eyes to the carpeted stairs, so his cheeks remained dry all the way up to- 3

(he was just a toy that belongs in The Playroom)4

-The Playroom. He was dropped ritually on the carpet as soon as his stepfather had closed the door, but this time, Kaleb didn't even try to sneak out again. 5

(“Our father, which art in heaven-) 6

After he'd prepared the bed for Kaleb, his stepfather strode over, looking confident, and picked Kaleb up again as if he weighed nothing. 7

(-hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven-)8

Kaleb just sat there obediently as his pants were tugged off as usual...9

(-Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses-)10

...His hands were tied above him, just like they were every time, he was hanging like Christ on Daddy's bed. 11

(-as we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil-)12

Kaleb just didn't have any tears left to cry as his captor shed himself of clothing below the waist and crawled over him yet again- 13

(-For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever-)14

-and down came his underwear, which was now around his ankles in an oh-so-familiar fashion...15

His stepfather's fingers were sliding on his stomach, traveling under his shirt, over his ribs- 16

....and there was just a little tug around his neck. 17

The man looked puzzled for a moment before lifting up Kaleb's shirt, revealing the most part of the rosary. He furrowed his eyebrows. 18

“Is this yours?” He asked. Kaleb's heart stopped and set to racing as the wooden cross was held in that evil man's hand, as if it meant nothing. 19

He tried shooting his hand out to take it away, to snatch it away from him, but his hands were tied- and anyway, it was too late. 20

His stepfather's rough hand pulled on the rosary hard as could be, and Kaleb could feel the cord snap around his neck. 21

Dark red beads went flying every which way. 22

And Kaleb screamed- 23

(HE SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER,) 24

-louder than he had ever screamed before- 25

(BECAUSE WHERE WAS GOD?!)26

-and even though only a few minutes ago it seemed that he had no tears left in his body to cry, his vision was suddenly blurred with the acidic drops, but he kept screaming anyway-27

(Please stop, just stop it-! It hurts!)28

-because that rosary, the very thing that had kept him alive, had just snapped.29

And he was so tired.30

Kaleb.... was just so tired of it all. 31

And even though his throat was beginning to hurt, Kaleb kept screaming. He drew his leg back and kicked his stepfather as hard as he could in the stomach, electing a soft “oomf” sound of the air being pushed out of the man's lungs. His arms flailed around, trying to catch Kaleb's legs, but Kaleb struggled as much as possible. 32

“Our-father-which-art-in-heaven-hallowed-be-thy-name!” He began reciting as loudly as he could. “Thy-kingdom-come-thy-will-be-done-on-earth-as-it-is-in-heaven!” He continued. His stepfather looked surprised, but kept trying to capture Kaleb's flying feet. 33

“Give-us-this-day-our-daily-bread-and-forgive-us-our-trespasses!!” He screamed, gritting his teeth as his stepfather captured one of his legs around the ankle. Now that one was being kept in control, it was hard to keep the other one out of arm's reach. 34

“As-we-forgive-them-that-trespass-against-us! Lead-us-not-into-temptation-but-deliver-us-from-EVIL-” Kaleb swung his free leg towards his stepfather, kicking him on the side of the head with his heel. Kaleb shrieked with frustration- 35

“FOR-THINE-IS-THE-KINGDOM-THE-POWER-THE-GLORY-FOREVER-AND-EVER-”36

And Kaleb knew that God must have been watching over him, because he could feel his hands slipping out of the rope-37

“AMEN!” He screeched, and then his anger and sadness and loneliness and every emotion was just one congealed mass inside of him, it shone in his eyes like a light, and the force of the weight that had been put upon his shoulders by the man now sitting atop him propelled him arm forward, and it collided perfectly with before mentioned man's jaw, sending him flying backwards.

Holy crap. I have no idea what's going but jeez that was intense! I really liked it. Sorry I picked up first at chapter 6 but it was the one that caught my eye as I randomly (well not totally randomly) wandered on to your page. This was excellent really. Well done! I may have to find time to read this.

  • *squeals*
Yes! I hope that evil man gets brain damage!
YAY! Go God! I'm so happy, he better be ok though
*crosses fingers before running to find the next chapter*

  • O.O
    This chapter gave me chills.
This story is really powerful, with Kaleb's POV and how you write the terrible things. The words in parentheses add a whole new dimension to this story, too.
It's really sad... It's still sad, but here we have a glimmer of hope. I realllyreally it turns out for the better. TT~TT

  • HORAAAAAY

Celebratory cookies for everyone! Needless to say, It made me feel all warm and cheerful inside! Despite the rosary being ripped from his neck. God I almost screamed too. Sadly, I had not breath because it was taken away in this story a long time ago (corny line XD)! BEAUTIFUL! |Skips happily to next story.|

    Good story

I was reading chapter six and had to see what happened next. I'm glad you gave the boy the strenght to endure and conquer his evil step-father. Your story had the right amount of emotion and made this reader get involved with the story.

  • Yes! Yes! He finally got free!
This made me so...so...oh my god it made me happy...his step-father finally got what he deserved and Kaleb...he finally got free! I absolutely loved this chapter...LOVED IT.
It has to be by far my favorite chapter in this story...good job.

  • I must say, the very last paragraph is pure loveliness. I've never heard of emotion as a mass, and I think that's one of THE most perfect ways to describe it. (You might just wanna run back to that paragraph, though, I believe you have him rather than his, but no biggie.) I mean, the emotion gives him the power, it looks like, and there's just nothing that can stop him at that point. And the struggle.. all put to prayer, and the emphasis on evil. Pure loveliness, as all your writing is. ^^

  • O.O He snapped the rosary!?! that is sooo not right. More power to Kaleb for finally hurting his "dad." I liked this chappie best so far. I really can't wait to read the next part.
