Stand in the Rain (Redone)

She ran through the dreary streets of the town, her feet landing heavily against the pavement, splashing tiny gems of bitter water droplets everywhere. The dark world was silent and dim, and the streets she ran relentlessly were abandoned, with the exception of her. It was a relatively warm evening, but she could feel nothing but brutal boreal cold. Her soft skin pulsed with burning hot sensations, but she still felt as if she were left standing naked in the harsh bitterness of winter. She fought back tears, refusing to break down and give in to the desire to sob on forever. She didn't want to be that pathetic child, crying over her whims, unable to solve her own problems and take on her own responsibilities.1

She eminently feared that if she were to allow a single tear to fall, they would never stop, and she would remain a weak immobile being, alone in the rain; isolated from all else and consumed by her own fears. She jerked to a sudden stop and stood motionless, as she continued to become more and more drenched. Her racing mind pounded in her head, breaking the silence as taunting thoughts struck at her painfully. Her tottering legs became unsteady and shook as she fought back the urge to cry still, and fought with the desire to let her legs give in under the weight of her own body.2

The tear drops of rain became heavier and heavier, pounding against her skin painstakingly. 'Maybe one day I'll be found,' she thought to herself silently, with a kind of aspiration. Her lips sealed tightly together, as she fought an inner civil war against herself, 'Or maybe I'll remain lost in the darkness, forever alone.' This same taunting thought repeated itself in her mind as the mocking wind curled around her frame, and whistled past her hauntingly saying, "Forever alone," Her legs shook more and more and she became more and more weaker, and she forced herself to make another step.3

She realized she could never be relinquished of this pain if she continued to run, but she was too afraid to face her fears and continued on her strive forward, growing increasingly weaker, until she finally gave up and fell against the bitter pavement, water soaking into her clothes and rain pounding against her fallen form. 'I want to stand and face my fears,'' her mind continued, 'But I am not strong enough to face them alone...' Then deriding wind blew past and whispered to her once more, "Forever alone," and she broke down and the tears began to flow, unstopping.
