As Edward slipped the ring on my finger, I cringed. The ring was beautiful, but it looked so official on my finger. I tried to keep my mind off of what we were about to do, as I looked around Edward's room. The bed was still there, looking completely out of place in his cold-looking bedroom.
Edward smiled my favorite crooked smile at me as he laced his fingers in mine. He pulled my unwilling self to the door and we headed to the volvo. We didn't say a word as we got in, and for once, I couldn't keep my eyes on him. I kept looking at the ring on my finger. Edward squeezed my hand tightly.
"It'll be okay, Bella. Charlie will understand... eventually." he added under his breath, but I heard it.
Still, it made me feel slightly more comfortable and I resumed my ritual of examining his perfect face. I tried to drown out the sound of my heart, which seemed to be trying to explode out of my chest. My emotions were out of wack, due to the fact that we were just on the way to tell Charlie that Edward and I are getting married, and also because looking at Edward's face often does that to me.
Edward drove slowly, for my sake. He was just as apprehensive as I was. As we pulled into the driveway, next to the cruiser, I almost started to hyperventilate. Edward helped mu up to the door, as I was having trouble standing on my own. I was shaking from head to foot.
We stepped into the familiar house where we spent so much time. Charlie was in the living room, watching the game. I decided to sit in the kitchen, to prepare myself. Edward sat next to me, still holding my hand in his. Just as I had calmed myself down, Charlie walked into the room, and headed to the fridge to grab a soda. Edward squeezed my hand tightly.
"Hi, Bella... Edward." Charlie managed to keep his tone even when he said my boyfriend's name.
I couldn't find words, I just gulped and nodded.
"Bella has something she needs to tell you." Edward prompted. I threw him a 'I'm so going to kill you for that' look.
"Oh?" Charlie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Well..." I said as I reached up to push a lock of hair behind my ear. Big mistake.
"Isabella Swan... what is that on your finger?" asked Charlie, and I could hear his voice shaking with teetering rage.
"Well, ummmm... Edward and I-"
"Edward and you what?" he said with a threatening tone.
"Well, we're um... engaged." I whispered the last word, but he heard it.
Charlie went very still. The room seemed to get very quiet. I thought for a second that Charlie was about to have a stroke. Then the explosion happened.
"WHAT?!?"
The whole house seemed to shake.
Well, at least I'm still alive, I thought. For now.

This is really good. I was interested from beginning to end. I am curious to see what happens, though. Are you planning on making this longer?
For a beginning, this was outstanding. At least, I hope it's a beginning. I'd love to read more. -
