Michael was beginning to regret inviting Alessandro over for dinner. Alessandro had been constantly staring at him ever since they left the office. Michael found himself at the mercy of Alessandro’s piercing eyes. He couldn’t even move without having to think about every single movement he made with Alessandro around. They sat on the living room sofas and were currently having tea. 1
“Damn, I feel like a fucking granny sitting here having tea” said a disturbed Light. Alessandro hissed a laugh and gave Michael a break. He took his eyes off of him and began peering into the tea. Michael found relief when he felt Alessandro’s eyes stray. An eerie silence filled the room. 2
Suddenly, the kitchen door opened and a shadow stepped in. Michael looked over the counter and his expression darkened. It was Skiie. She calmly crept to nearby stairs but was stopped by a stern voice. “Back from school Skiie?” asked Michael staring at her. She nodded but stood still. Sadness filled Michael as he motioned to Skiie to go upstairs. He followed behind silently. 3
Light stared at the ground and nodded in disapproval. “Damn sunny, why did you lie?” he said under his breath. Alessandro glanced at him and said “a beautiful lie isn’t she?” Light looked up and scowled at him. Alessandro leaned forward and slammed the cup against the glass table. The cup exploded and shattered right before Light’s eyes. A couple of pieces fell onto him and he turned away in discomfort. “The hell is wrong with you!” said an angered Light. 4
Alessandro grinned openly and stood up. He walked towards the kitchen and left. “Asshole” Light muttered. Another awkward silence filled the seemingly empty room but was abruptly interrupted by yelling and screams. 5
“Damn it Skiie, I work my ass off so that you can get a little decent education and what do you do? You run off like a little bitch, cutting like it’s no fucking deal!” yelled Michael angrily. “Stop yelling at me!” she screamed to him. “If your mother was here, she would’ve whipped you in place!” he bickered. “Well that’s just it, she isn’t. And it’s your entire fucking fault. You killed her with your fucking drinking shit. You know sometimes I wish it was you that died in that car accident and not mom!” she snapped. 6
There was a sudden crash followed by a soft cry. Light could hear glass shattering and hard heavy footsteps crashing into the wooden floor upstairs. He turned around and saw a limping Skiie moving towards the front door. Her nose was bleeding and her cheek was red and swelling. Skiie was crying hard but she tried desperately to hide it. She opened the door and left. 7
Michael appeared near the stairs. He looked at Light who was staring at him oddly. “Did you touch her?” Light asked worryingly. Michael nodded a sad yes. He sunk into a melancholic mood and sat on the sofa. Light looked out the window and sighed. 8

Skiie touched her ebbing cheek which was now turning dark purple. She mumbled curse words at her imaginary father and smiled to herself. “I hate you so much daddy” she said aloud. Skiie walked towards a nearby tree and sat under it. Hot salty tears fell on her lips as she leaned her head backwards. “At least you don’t hate me, right?” she said consulting the tree. A small shadow edged closer to her from behind. A hand grabbed onto her shoulder. Skiie turned back only to see a man standing there watching her nervously. “Hey there kiddo” he said. She smiled at him but returned to despair. “Hey” she managed to say over her tears. “My name is Alessandro but you can call me Alex for short. I work with your…dad. Want to take a walk?” Skiie stared at him for a long while before saying “ok” 10
The air was refreshing that afternoon aside from the sun burning deep into their heads. The sidewalk seemed endless and desperate as they walked in silence. “So sunny, how are you doing?” Alessandro finally said. He feared that perhaps she would leave him in silence but he was surprised when she said something. “Please don’t call me that, call me Skiie” He drowned himself in her voice and her musical name that seemed to call out to him. Her name was sincere and peaceful. “Sorry. I always hated my father” he said lying. Alessandro had no father; none of the demons did. They were all born out of the lost souls of human beings who didn’t enter heaven. Even so, Alessandro was the first demon born and that made him a father to all other demons. 11
“No kidding, I wish he was dead” she said forcing a smile through her teary face. Tiny drops of water fell on her face. Skiie felt them trickle down her cheeks and into her mouth. They washed away the salty tears. It was starting to rain. Grey clouds danced in the sky and a thundering sound echoed softly through the streets. “You know, every time it rains, it means an angel is bleeding” Alessandro said breaking into her peace. She glanced at him and felt a wave of fear rush over her. What kind of guy talks about blood at a time like this? 12
He scowled at her for thinking about him in that way but in a way she was correct. He had brought up a secret that was not meant to be revealed to human beings. “What do you mean?” she asked curiously. Alessandro started to regret saying what he had just said but he decided to go along with it. He began weaving a tale of fantasy and horror to her. “Everyone has a guardian angel and that angel is supposed to protect you from entities such as…” he paused for a while. “Demons?” she added in. “Yes, like demons. Angels and demons have been in a constant battle with each other ever since humans began roaming the earth. It is said that angels can manipulate their human’s thoughts. The angel can talk to you but cannot reveal themselves to you. It is a rule in heaven and the angel gets sent to hell if he breaks it. Should your angel die in a horrible accident, the position of watching over you is free for the taking. A demon can take the position if he wishes to. This is where it becomes a danger. If the demon decides that he wants you to kill someone then he will fill you with hatred and negative thoughts. And then you will find yourself in a killing spree. In other words, whoever is your guardian gets to decide your fate” 13
Skiie stared at the ground in disgust “you mean I don’t get to choose my own fate? Some other jerk has to choose it for me?” Alessandro nodded. “Wait, how do you know all of this?” she demanded. He shivered and wondered if he should reveal to her his identity. “Because…I am your angel” he lied to her. She jumped up and stared at him in the eyes. Skiie had noticed that he had crescent shaped eyes and not circular. (all demons have crescent shape eyes). She had pondered if this was a sort of gene defect but she also noticed how graceful he stood when he walked and how full of energy his spirit was. “Ok if you’re my angel, where are your wings?” she questioned. “You can’t see them but I can show them to you if you are really that desperate” he said. 14
“Ok show me” Alessandro sighed and was beginning to feel butterflies in his stomach. He didn’t like where this has going. He stretched out one of his hands and took out a sharp shinny object from his coat pocket. It was a knife. “Wait stop, I’m not that desperate!” she cried in horror. She feared that the knife was meant for her. Skiie started to push herself away from him but was suddenly stopped by a strong cold hand gripping her by the arms. “Let go of me!” Alessandro pulled her closer and wrapped his arms around her. He began to suffocate her under his own weight. 15
He swung the knife and started to pierce her wrists. “Wait stop it hurts, please stop!” she pleaded. She began to scream but her screams were muffled by his hands. Alessandro pulled the knife upwards and then he moved it towards her eyes. Her eyes were wide in horror and she started to breathe what could be her last moment on earth. A tiny drop of blood fell into her eyes. He released her as she crashed onto the hard ground. The drop of blood burned into her eyes and she started to scream harder. Doors started to open and a few dogs were barking madly at all the commotion. 16
“Hey! You leave that girl alone” thundered an old man standing close to Alessandro. “Oh shut up you old fuck!” Alessandro snapped. He pulled out another object but this time it was a sword. Alessandro ran towards the man and jammed the sword into his frail face. The old man toppled back and crashed. He too started to scream but in agony. The blood painted the sidewalks a muddy red as the rain started to pour harder and harder. 17
Alessandro ripped open his coat and took off his white shirt. He revealed his bare white skin and turned to face Skiie. She was on the ground kicking ferociously at the air. The blood felt like acid on her eyes. Her screams were already wasted and her voice was starting to grow softer. Alessandro started to scream as two large bony structures sprouted from his back. Skiie managed to open her eyes and glanced at him. They were wings. She watched as white feathers started to grow on the bony structures. From what she could see, it was a very painful process for Alessandro was still screaming. 18
A few moments later there was silence. 19
(The angels of heaven have black wings while the angels of hell (demons) have white wings)
