The door slid upon, and light poured in. It flooded through the room, emblazing the air within. Strangely it seemed to actually fill the room. The room that V had only moments ago thought to be rather well-accommodating for even a dozen people suddenly seemed too small for three.7
This wasn't really what he had expected on his first day at the mathematics tuition. It lead a fire to burn through his veins, setting his mind alight. The darkness and fog hat ornated through the gaps between his grey cells seemed to vanish, and fast. The girl who slid open the door, to enter and sit besides him was quickly making her place in his mind.8
"She definitely wasn't fair as snow." V told himself as he kicked the stone, on his way home. "Her skin was still human, not white and pale. With a tinge of pink that seemed like an artist's attempt to paint temptation. That set off by a pair of pink lips. Not blood red, but beautifully pink. She's really the kind that'd make me turn from my most tedious task and allow me a smile so wide so as to stretch from ear to ear."9
Pausing at a crossing, he hummed a tune. "But she definitely isn't someone whom you deserve. By Jove, what do you have that might make you stand as peer next to her?"10
As his eyes searched the heights of the tall buildings, looking for an answer that was well etched into the usual pathways of his mind. "You are great at just about nothing, aren't you? You do know for yourself that you don't LOOK great, and perhaps never will. And you neither play the guitar nor dunk in the regular baskets. What are you? Who are you?"11
The calendar on his mobile showed that 3 months had passed since the commencement of his tuition. It had finally ended. All he had managed to speak her involved the name of his institution of formal study, clarification on a topic which plagued her with doubts. Nothing beyond that. Nothing.12
"Oh Lord of Regret! To thee I beckon my gun,13
For what hath occurred was by my bidding"14
With what started out as an attempt to gain her attention and possible make a deep impression upon her, and later developed into a goal that he set up for himself in order to match her status; today it felt so sweet. In those 2 months he had grown beyond his limits in mathematics. His attempt to match her beauty with his academically skills bore into him a determination that he had lacked for a long time.15
"Its not that I love the view from there,16
Just that the climb excites me."17
As he flopped onto his bed, he looked the mirror by his side, brushing a hand through his hair, while trying to allow his face a better look. His thoughts wondered to the things he would say to her, swear his love to her.18
Then with an unexpected smile, he turned over, to dream of her, and get up with enough power to finish the last of his academic assignments.19
