She Inspires

The church congregation staring at her every move as she made her way to the stage. You could tell she was nervous by the way she smiled, It was half hearted, and her brown eyes seemed to jump from person to person, attempting to judge their reaction of her. The Preacher standing at the podium speaks loudly, 1

"Susie will now be singing a song for us today. Please give her a hand."2

Everyone in the Baptist crowd clapped, but it soon faded. The large auditorium went dark and a spotlight appeared on the young singer. Silence fell as the last clap rang out. She stood there a moment awaiting her song to begin. All those eyes, judging her. Was she wearing the right shoes, or the right dress, and was her hair appropriate? 3

She closed her eyes. I knew immediately what she was doing. I could see right through her. Susie had shut her eyes and shut out everyone in the room with them. To her, there was only two people in the room. Susie was on the stage, and Jesus in the front row, staring at her with curiosity. She began to sing.4

She sung about her undying faith. She sung of her trials, and her whole world coming down on her. She also sang of Jesus saving her, and shedding his blood so all may come and know him as saviour. Jesus smiled as he watched her contently.5

Watching her from my back row pew I was puzzled with questions I wanted answers. I knew who Jesus was but what is this Salvation thing? The music slowly faded and she ended with the line6

"When the world turns against me, and I am all by myself, and I cant hear you answer my cries for help, I will remember the suffering your love put you through and I will go through the valley if you want me to."7

A single tear rolled down my cheek as she exited the stage and headed back down the aisle toward her seat and the preacher stepped up to the microphone. He spoke allowed, 8

"Jesus is calling for you, he died so you can come and answer him. Come to the Altar and accept his gift"9

And with that I arose and passed Susie in the aisle way as I made my way to the Altar. I knelt down, and the pastor threw his arm around me and we prayed. He asked me about salvation, and I closed my eyes and suddenly There were two people in the room. Jesus in the front pew smiling at me, and I shedding tears of joy from my new found salvation.10

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."11

"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."12

Romans 10:9-1013

The tear slips down my blushing cheek and plops onto the keyboard, leaving a puddle on the letter M. What a beautiful expression. Thank you.
