Untitled (Chapter One)

It happened that in the beginning the Goddess Mother was alone and silent, the makings of the world held close to her breast.  All was dark and had not taken shape.  And the Goddess Mother looked down upon the world with love, a tear shining in her eyes.  And low, that tear fell into the world and bore the oceans and seas, lakes and rivers.  And it was that the gleam of pride in the Mother’s eye became as a sun upon the world and all manner of plant and animal sprang up under her gaze of love.  The goddess Mother breathed Life into the world giving mind and soul to all creatures and yet the world was not full.  Out of the earth sprang beings forged of Her womb and they bore Her resemblance and became the people.1

Long the Goddess Mother looked over Her children as they grew and prospered, yet Her heart was not full.  Out of Her womb came then two as Her and us alike, Twin Gods both immortal yet imperfect to fill Her void.  And She departed then from us to raise Her sons, each to bare His own burden.  2

Solemn grew with the power of sun, wind and rain.  He worked the fields of the world alone with patient pride, learning the secrets of the plants and animals the Mother Goddess had born.  He then walked among the people, teaching the ways of farming, hunting and signs.  Yet still he walked the world alone.  And with the knowledge He had granted, the people Laid down their bags and made homes and villages, each with fields and hunting grounds.  And the people prayed to Him for rain and sun for their crops and skill in the kill and He was looked upon as the God of the hunt and field.3

Sosiett, the God that Was, had the power of moon and star. He forged the world into shapes of his own making.  Rock into sword and wood into homes. Always with the people, He taught them the skills of art, crafting and control.  And the people looked to him for fire in the forge, skill in their crafting, and safety in their homes.  And with His skills came the knowledge of war and battle and the forges grew hot from the armor and weapons they made.  And it was that Sosiett, the God that Was, became known as the god of the forge and war.4

When the Goddess Mother saw Her Son’s gifts and love of the people, She drew Them back into the heaven to rule in Her place while She withdrew to rest.  Many generations did the Brothers rule well over the people, helping them develop the gifts they had been taught until it happened that the people became masters of the gifts.  And the people cherished these gifts, using them to forge life and home, village and family and the Sons were honored highest among the people.  Then it came to pass that a time of peace enveloped the land when homes stood safe and weapons lay unused and the people turned only to Solemn’s gifts of working the land.  The need to build and create and war fell to the wayside as they built vast civilizations.  And Solemn looked down upon His people with love and blessed their crops and hunts while Sosiett, the God that Was, grew restless and jealous.5

It was in this time of great peace that a child was born, blessed with the gifts of Solemn.  She was named Prescea and on the day of Her birth a great tree rose from the ground and blessed the town with endless fruits.  The people seeing that She was blessed by Solemn called upon her to pray to the Brother for rain or sun for their crops.  And it came that Solemn looked upon Her with great favor and granted Her requests.  As time passed and the child grew older and more beautiful, then it came that He looked upon Her with love.  And it came that as His love for Prescea grew stronger, Solemn came among the people more often, taking the form of a man.  And it was in this form that Solemn came to the woman Prescea as a man and earned Her love in return.6

Sosiett, the God that Was, being ever watchful of His brother, saw Him draw closer to the people, walking among them more often and He saw in this, a chance to take from His Brother the power the Goddess Mother had granted him.  Sosiett, the God that Was, would wait until His Brother went down to the people as a mortal, taking His power while He was defenseless, leaving Him as the sole God to worship and honor.  And it came that the day of Solemn and Prescea’s joining was upon them and Sosiett, the God that Was, left the heavens, keeping His immortal form.  And Sosiett, the God that Was, attacked His Brother and long They fought, Solemn holding His Brother at bay even as a mortal.  And it was as Sosiett, the God that Was, bore His hand to aim at His Brother and draw out His immortal power that Prescea threw Her body against Solemn’s, protecting His form with Her own.  And it came to pass that Sosiett, the God that Was, instead drew out Her mortal soul into His own and He was as a mortal Himself.7

With Her life force taken, it came that Prescea died with Her body protecting Solemn and He wept for His bride.  And as He laid Her upon the earth and bid Her spirit to join the Goddess Mothers in the heavens, the people wept upon the land and the heavens with them and a great water rose in the rivers and lakes and oceans. And it was that as the people watched, the Goddess Mother came down from the Heavens, weeping for all of Her children.  She drew to her the frail mortal spirit of Sosiett, the God that Was, and His life left him and was drawn into the Heavens as that of one of the people.  Then, turning to Solemn, she drew His Bride to her bosom and breathed into her the breath of eternal Life.  And it was that Prescea became a Goddess alongside Solemn, to forever love and protect Him.  And it was that Prescea became a protector of the people and they knew her as the Goddess of the Hearth.  And to the people were granted gifts of the Gods, each to follow a single one.  And the people looked upon these gifted ones to pray to their God and it was that they became known as Priests.8

Author notes

This is the creation story for a world in my head.  I'm not sure yet if I want to use it for a mud or for a book, either way it's remaining untiled untill I at least name the world.  Also, chapter one because there is much more to come about each of the rest of the pantheon.  I would LOVE comments on this, or ideas.  Anything you want to give will be loved and thanked in turn.

*sniffs* I don't know what to say. Most everyone that has me on their favorites list (all like um...3?) Are friends. *beams* I'm all like honored and stuff now. This story was one that first came to me in a dream. (i read too much fantasy) And when i woke up, i just had to write it all down. I thought perhaps at first it was just too romancy but i like it anyway. Everyone likes a good romance between at least two of the gods right? Anyway, I've already got the notes for chapter two so i'll get to work on actually writting them out. hehe. first it was the whip yelling at me for clam chowder, now it's this. Hopefully my muse is back from the Moores. Thanks a ton for your comment.

I'm slowly working on writting out the rest. I know there are going to be children (obviously) but i'm not sure what else to put in just yet. It'll take time. This is a creation story written by a poetic bard. It's all got to overly glorified Takes time to come up with all the stuff.
