Quicksand, Ch 2

The cloud on the horizon billowed forwards, and the men started to hear the pounding of feet. 1

"Fuck." 2

The sound of the expletive died on Brent's lips as he looked towards the approaching army. 3

Graham managed a weak grin before Emily turned and smacked him. "Owww," he complained, and she glared. 4

Brent was torn. On one hand, he could flee, head for the camp, hope to god they made it out. By the sound of the feet, they were badly outnumbered, and he knew the odds of them outfighting the South. How did that song go again, he wondered. 5

The song would start with the leuteinant. "...For we will march, march, march, into the hills until we heard the cannons boom, and every Southern man could fit a Northern man into his boot..." 6

And then, the troops behind the commander would shout "TEN IN FACT",7

Going on as if they said nothing, the leuteinant would say, "...and every Southern man is worth a thousand, worth a thousand..."8

On the other hand, they could stand and fight. None of these men would back down, he knew, until they were all dead.9

Brent was never one to make decisions. 10

First of all expletive haha (expletive deleted), that really made my day right there.

Hmm, a novel you say, well it is very intriguing, and as usual I love your style. Above all else I am particularly intrigued of your tone in this section, its so detatched, yet so perfect for characterization purporses. I love it .

Out of curosity is each posting really a chapter, or is it just a minor little segment?

    beaucoup d'amour.

  • Oh wow. It's rare to see a story about the military, especially a Civil War story on here. This was well-written. I'm going to go back and read the first chapter since I don't really know what's going on. xD Good job, though. Keep it up.
