The battle for the infinite horizon

As the night is slowly killing the day with its invisible shadow, the moon comes out of its hiding place, and tries with all of its power to brighten up the blindfolded sky. The battle for possessing the infinite horizon has begun.1

Although many hold that the moon and the night work together - to darken constantly half of the world - in reality, this doesn't seem to be true. In fact, they're perpetually fighting each other to be called the king of gloom. Each of them having their own armies, they're prepared to do anything in order to steal each others glory.2

The night tries to cloak the skyline with black clouds, carefully moulded out of frozen dewdrops. Also during daylight, each cloud located on the world's ceiling, is an early attempt of the dark to conquer the precious value of the sunbeams. A pointless campaign, since the light burns wholes into them and eventually comes out as the strongest. The moon however - doesn't have enough power to melt the frozen dewdrops - can easily be defeated with this weapon. Only don't forget the children of the moon - the stars. They come to the rescue with their compact ray of light and manage to pierce through the clouds.3

in minutes - or hours - the moon and the stars will succeed and once in a while, they will be able to touch the ground, to them considered as the Garden of Eden. The night reacts with casting a veil of fog, the ultimate barrier to stop earths natural satellite. Satisfied with the results, the night starts to celebrate the victory of its brilliant idea. Too soon...4

Within moments, it notices silent and fast movements. Something is sneaking very quickly inside this haze. It focuses on the motions, but isn't able to get a clear view of what is going on. While thickening the fog, all at once the night sees breaths of stardust rushing around inside this curtain. A personal attack of the stars on their enemy.5

The war climaxes. The battle distracts the combatants from the approaching flames. An intense heat surrounds them from the back, and scares them to death. The sun rises to bring a new day...6

Blinded by the light, the night and the moon flee to their lonely shelter, where they can prepare the next war of the battle for  infinite horizon...7

    beautiful

I've never read a story like this before. I think I liked it, although my mind is still a bit sleepy and lost right now. Sort of reminded me of the Wrinkle In Time series, by Madeline L'Engle. Have you ever read them? Wonderful books. Stars dying to fight the darkness is in the first book, the reast take off on fantasies.

    Good luck in the contest!
