Cat Essay

To Whom It May Concern:1

What is your favorite animal? Mine favorite animal is a cat. Did you know cats LOVE humans? Well, they do. I think that I should have a cat. One reason I should have a cat is because I am responsible. Okay, so I do sometimes forget to do things, or don’t listen, but I’m TRYING (honestly this time). Another reason as to why I should have a cat is because I know how to take care of a cat. I have researched SO much. Also, I take very good care of Bryce’s cat, Chloe. You may even ask Bryce or Mrs. Luann. Lastly, I should have a cat because I am lonely. Cats make great companions! They love humans. All animals can sense when something is wrong and come to comfort you. When my brothers are being mean my cat can comfort me. To summarize, I think I should have a cat.2

My first reason as to why I should have a cat is because I am TRYING to become responsible. I do forget some things, but if I get a cat it will make me responsible. You have to take care of a living being. Therefore, its life is in your hands. I promise right now that I will take care of a cat and love it. My cat will never have to come to you because I will love it and care for it. You will just have to let the cat at while I am at school. Speaking of school, I will promise that I will keep all of my grades up. Those B’s I got in French and Science Enrichment I can’t change because I do not have them anymore. In all of my other classes I had all A’s. I promise to keep them A’s and maybe even make them A+’s! There will be no more B’s. All in all, I will be a responsible cat owner.3

My second reason as to why I should have a cat is because I know how to take care of a cat. I know you always say, “You won’t take care of a cat. I’ll end up taking care of the cat,” BUT I will take care of a cat! I have researched SO much about cats and how to take care of a cat. I will explain this to you in the next paragraph. Also, if you ask Bryce if I take care of Chloe, she will say YES! I have fed Chloe, given Chloe water, AND cleaned Chloe’s litter box. I have helped Mrs. Luann will Fancy too. You can ask her too. As a result, I should have a cat.4

In addiction to my second reason, I have proof that I know a lot about cats. This is a did you know thing. Did you know that young kittens love to play? It’s just like Lefty! Did you know that cats are also known as the domestic cat or the house cat? Did you know that cats could hunt over 1,000 species for food? (How about socks?) Did you know any of these facts yet? Do you know how big a cat will get? The weight can range from 5.5 lbs to 16 lbs; however, some breeds can go over 25 lbs. Did you know there are about 79 breeds over cats? That is a lot of cat breeds! Do you know how old indoor cats live to? Indoors cats normally live to be 14-20; however a few have lived until they were 36. To summarize, I know a lot about cats.5

Most importantly, my third reason is that I am lonely some days. When Noah, Max, or Jonah hurts me or is mean to me I can have my cat to come to and talk to. I can tell my cat secrets (most friends can’t keep secrets or if you aren’t friends anymore they will tell your secrets). As I said before, all animals can sense when something is wrong and can comfort you. Also, cats make great companions to humans. Cats love humans too! When I am sad my cat can comfort me. All in all, a cat will help me feel better when I’m sad or when you or my friends are not around.6

As you can see, I must have a cat. One reason as to why I must have a cat is because it will make me responsible (more responsible than I am now)! Another reason as to why I must have a cat is because I know how to take care of a cat. You don’t know that I feed Chloe (Bryce’s cat), give Chloe water, AND clean her litter box! Also, I have researched SO much! The last reason as to why I must have a cat is because I get lonely sometimes. When Noah, Max, and/or Jonah beat me up or makes fun of me, I would have my cat to go to. You will never have to take care of my cat. My cat would be my responsibility. In conclusion, I deserve a cat! 7
