The Apparition Man- Part Ninety-Two #

Chapter Twenty Three – Part Ninety – Two#1

“How are you feeling Reidy?” Doctor Hewitt asked, her clipboard on her lap.2

We all sat around an oval table. The hospital busy with noise.3

I tired to drown it out, thinking, concentrating on what Doctor Hewitt had just asked me. Pondering just the right thing to say.4

I knew how I was feeling. Although I wondered worryingly what would happen if I opened up and told her the truth. Would it out my place in Kerry's room in jeopardy? There was no way in the world I was going to even think about jeopardizing that.5

Instead I put on a fake smile, hoping she would look past it, not knowing that my whole body felt like breaking apart. I still felt the shivering sensation as I pushed my back hard against the chair, and tried to make eye contact with the both of them.6

“I feel fine,” I said, lowering my shaking hands to my lap. I slid them between my leg and leaned forward, trying ever so desperately to dodge her question.7

“How is my mother doing? Did she finally go back home to her precious bottle, and cigarettes?”8

Doctor Hewitt retreated to her clipboard, slipping a piece of paper out from the clip. Passing it to me she lowered her brows. Ready to respond to my fair and factual statement.9

“What is this?” I asked, looking curiously, yet impulsively as I took it from her hand.10

My eyes lit up as soon as I saw the word WARNING, in bold capital letters, scrolled down the page.11

I wish to advise Ms Eleanor Hope, that a meeting will be held Monday the 14th of December, in regards to one of my newest patients; Miss Reidy Hope.12

This meeting, and interviews will be an assessment upon your parenting commitment, and communication skills within the guidelines of the Mercy Clinic hospital.13

It has come to my attention that Ms Hope has been struggling with taking care of her mentally ill daughter, and has show myself, and the clinic great amounts of dishonestly on several occasions while in contact with the Mercy clinic. Not to forget the bases of neglect, upon which Reidy Hope has suffered.14

I call upon this meeting with the highest regards to my patients safety, and well being; I will not take this issue lightly, as I see this as a serious offense.15

Regards Doctor L. Hewitt

I looked up, slightly confused, and a tad relieved. 16

So she had gone home with a warning, the warning of loosing me, maybe even loosing custody of me.17

This was serious now, this was a make or break chance for my mother to prove herself, and show her true colors, and to be honest this was one of those moments were the pain, and numbness seemed to disappear as the thought of a great weight being lifted, while Karma and good fortune floated into my life. It was all in my favor, and looking at the worst for hers. 18

It was time to fight this. Once and for all, and I knew very well whose side Doctor Hewitt was on.19

I handed her back the piece of paper. Disguising my smile of joy, under my burrowed brows; and released a heavy sigh, taking a deep breath in, feeling it excel without stress.20

“Will I be apart of this?”I asked with the slight sense of annoyance in the tone of my voice. I surprised myself how convincing I sounded. How hurt I was, by being made to come to this event, when really I could not wait to watch her shrivel and die as I got payback for what she had done to me.21

Nodding, Doctor Hewitt slipped the paper under the clip.22

“Yes you will be required to tell panel of Health, and Mental Illness all about the time you have spent with your mother after your first dismissal from the hospital. Now I know it may seem a little daunting, and they might ask you some upsetting questions, but just know that we are not here to hurt you or cause you any distress, we are here to protect you form harm in any way we see it happening. Do you understand that Reidy ?”23

Hesitating I paused look between the both of them, an expression of reassurance replacing my masquerade of fear and doubt.24

She wanted a showdown, I would give her a showdown. I would be absolutely merciless. She would fee the raft of the past coming back to haunt her, I would use it against her, anything to make her pay for what she was doing to me.25

“I understand, just as long as I do not have to do this alone, I know she will lie, I know she will do anything to deny what she has done.”26

Doctor Hewitt nodded.27

“Yes we are quite aware of what your mother is like, and we are almost certain she will do anything to save you like any mother would, but is she chooses so she will be putting your custody in jeopardy. In saying that, I hope in the same respect that you will be wise enough yourself to tell the truth. I cannot stress this enough, just how serious this interview is.”28

Nodding I sat back in the chair. My hands had stopped shaking with the revelation of what could be my greatest reassurance.29

“Great, I am glad that we see eye to eyes and that you are able to to be mature enough to take responsibility during these hard times. Now if you don't have an further questions, Lisa will take you down the the dinning hall for dinner.”30

Shaking my head, I stood up, shaking away the pins, and needles in my legs.31

“None that I can think of right at this moment, but thank you for the warning, it is much appreciated.”32

Standing alongside Lisa, Doctor Hewitt extender her hand taking hers in mine.33

“Not a problem, I appreciate you taking it on board.”

Nice way to end this current chapter

While there were a couple of grammar and spelling errors, it didn't deter from the message that you were giving the readers. I enjoyed the chapter and the depth of what we are seeing in Reidy. Well done.
