I'm Not Your Fool Anymore

As the days pass me by, I count the tears that fall from my eyes. From the memories of my childhood up until middle school and all through high school. 1

After nights and nights of nightmares I wish I could ask you John, “Didn’t you ever wonder what your hateful words would have on me?”2

I think you had too much fun fooling me into your mind games to even care about the consequences. 3

Then when you did want to talk all you did was tell me how stupid I was or how I did wrong, but never did you give any clue on how I could improve.4

As the years slowly moved on the other students realized how much of a fool I was and took advantages of it. 5

Every chance they could, and there was hardly anything I could do a bout it. Not only was I your fool, but I was everyone else’s fool as well.6

“Please stop,” I’d tell them but that only seemed to fuel them more.7

“Knock it off!” I would yell at them, but even that didn’t slow them down.8

Then as my senior year stared I resisted the urge to talk to anyone. Then one day I was told by my cousin that went to the same school as me. 9

He then told me in his whiny voice, “Your dad John got your report card, he’s disappointed in you.”10

That’s when I said, “John isn’t my dad, he hasn’t been in my life since the day I said goodbye. He can be disappointed all he wants to, I don’t care what he thinks anymore.”11

Then the day finally came January 12, 2006. That was the day I quit being everyone’s fool and they all knew it, because by then I had a portable CD player and a mp3 player.12

I listened to my music as loud as the system would play. Wouldn’t you know it Cinderella’s Nobody’s Fool is what I listened to on the long ride in the bus.

I liked the story, but there weren't very many specifics. I didn't really know what was going on or why it was happening. How was she a fool? What did she do?

This was a good story with a great idea behind it. I love the music as an escape.

Heh, when I first read this, I thought it was based on the song "Everyones Fool" by Evanescence. But I guess it fits too!
I like the idea behind this story, but the story itself seems a little vague. I think you could try making it appearant at the beginning of the story that the main characters father is the one making her feel like a fool constantly, and how that affects her in school as well. I love the idea of being able to hide from that in music, but I suggest elaborating that part.
Otherwise, I think this is a very good story, and I wish you luck in the contest!
