Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.

It was the worst day in hell when my mother forced me into the confessionals.

The iron, meshed windows. The unsatisfied, and morally disgusted priest.
I didn't think I could take much more of it.

She said she would stand by me.
Hamish said he would stand by me.

He lived up to his promise.5

He didn't treat me like vermin.
Like a freak.6

I stood still holding onto my partners hand reciting a prayer of God that only angered me inside.7

Why was my mother doing this?
Why could she not hear me out?
Why could she not just understand?

  • This is my second time reading, and it's still as awesome as the first. I like how this is short and to the point, and uses the brief paragraphs to tell you what's what right away, and set up the story. I think that even if someone didn't read the first part of the series, from this alone they could grasp the theme of it, or at least be intrigued enough to go back and read it.

    Perfection, darling.

    It's a pretty good prologue.

    And I can't believe there's a sequel. WOO!
