Memories of the Past and Things of the Future

I look around to discover something missing
And nowhere to be found
Wait, there must be some mistake
Give me time to reason; get calm
Could it ever be touched by my fingers? 1

No, as I close my eyes it still exist
Then why can no one else see or feel
My loss as it is so clear in my mind
It is so fixed and imbedded in my heart
Ringing like a clarion, clear and pure
That my telling brings it to life2

Maybe I am wrong, and what really matters
Is not missing---my heart is alive;
My soul Intact
I am, and always will be, stronger3

Today because of a loss that has left me
Standing. Head held high I walk proudly
Forward; kneel to hug a child, pat a dog4

Tonight diamonds will stud the sky;
Steps will still go to heaven and God has
Blessed me with the strength to stall tall
Love is here, the memory, ever inside5

Tomorrow is before me with yet another
Heart that may join mine to stroll
The sidewalks of and bask in the sun6

    this is a very heartfelt poem that you have written. memories of a true friend. one that only comes in our lives once in a lifetime. losing someone that close who is an important part of our lives, can have an impact on us.
    I'm sure that you will miss him a lot, but the memories that you have of him will be alive and well.

    Excellent.

    Thank you for writing this, it's absolutely excellent. Simply brings it home that this feeling won't last forever. This verse sums it up for me:

    "Maybe I am wrong, and what really matters

      Each person I've known has left memories and the special friends have certainly made me a better person. This was written for a very special friend who will always be missed.

    This was lovely ^.^ I really liked this poem it's beautifully exicuted ^.^ I really liked "Tonight diamonds will stud the sky;" your words paint beautiful images of something wonderfully found ^.^ This flow and basically everything is sooo pretty I almost cried ^.^ nicely done ^.^
