Walk like the animals

Walk like the Animals2

This is the story of Gumple De Flirk...3

Who thought that walking like animals could work,4

He said to himself whilst in his head talking,5

I'm so bored of every day human type walking,6

So he hatched a plan did gumple de flirk,7

To walk like the different creatures on earth,8

He said to himself whilst lying on a log,9

Today I will try to hop like a frog,10

So he hopped up the road but on just one leg,11

But the constant hopping it hurt his head,12

He said this is no way to move I’ll take note,13

Now I have a headache he pitifully croaked,14

Next he tried to walk like a pig,15

With rope for a tail and a pink coat and wig, 16

But using his hands as feet at the front,17

Made them all sore and he started to grunt,18

He said "I did the best that I could",19

But now I will try to move through the woods,20

So he started then to swing through the tree's,21

Like a monkey but fell down and grazed his knees,22

He said I thought it would do no harm,23

But swinging through tree's nearly pulled off my arms,24

There must be a better way of getting around,25

Perhaps I should get more close to the ground,26

So he lay on the ground just next to the lake,27

And started to slither along like a snake,28

He said to himself I think this is good,29

But the problem is now I am covered in mud,30

I think I should try to get nearer the sky,31

With some paper wings I am sure I could fly,32

So on top of his roof he did climb,33

And put on his wings one at a time,34

He closed his eyes and then he jumped,35

But fell to the ground with a great big thump,36

He then decided as he lay on the ground,37

That walking is the best way to move around.38

this is cute. right now I'm reading the canterbury tales by chaucer and the rhyme scheme made me think of that, but also a little of some sort of didactic childrens tale. good amusing write
