"Almost unweded" ch 4 The call

(Sometime next week, a day before the wedding)2

Sinthea is in her room trying on her dress, making sure that is fits while her good friend Guinevere is sitting on the bed looking at a magazine and watching her. Sinthea holds her hand up a bit and looks at the ring. She smiles and turns to her friend. “Do I look good in this dress? Like, does it suite me?”3

Her friend looks at her annoyingly for Sinthea has asked this several times now. “For the fifty millionth time, you look fine. Now hurry up and change so we can go or we’ll be late.”4

Sinthea sighs lightly and quickly changes clothes. She goes to grab her keys so they can leave when her phone rings. Not knowing the number, she hesitantly answers the phone.5

“h…hello?”6

“Is this Sinthea?” says a muffled husky voice.7

“Who is this?” 8

“Are you Sinthea or not?” said the voice more impatiently.9

(Irritated) “Yes, now what do you want?” 10

“I am calling to tell you that Steve owes me money and if he does not pay up, he will lose the one thing he loves. Now, you tell him that he better have the money tomorrow at 9 or die.” 11

“What the…what money?” Sinthea was confused now. Steve had told her that he had paid off everything. What was going on here?13

“So who was it? What did they want?” Guinevere asked curiously.14

(Ok, she’s a good friend and all, but sometimes she is too nosey, Sinthea thought.)15

“It…it was nothing. Look, change of plans. I got to go see Steve about something. I’ll talk to you later. Ok?” Sinthea needed to know what was going on and needed to know now. As soon as she sees Steve she’s going to give him a big whack on the head for lying. 16

(Confused) “Umm, ok? Is everything ok?”17

“Yeah, everything is great. Now I’ve got to go. See you later.” Sinthea then hurried out the door before her nosey friend could stop her and ask her even more questions. 18

Sinthea got into her car and sped off to Steve’s house. Getting madder as she got closer to his house, she was soon doing way past the speed limit. When she got there she saw he was gone which was irritating. Well, she did have a key, so why not wait inside for him she thought. 19
