Clarissa stood silent as the jury delivered the verdict. When they delivered it, she fainted into a black and gray haze, only to be captured by the dreams which engulfed her entire life, much like a tsunami would engulf Sumatra. As she descended into a terrifying dream, the courtroom erupted in shock and 911 was called.1
The five year old sat there in the doctor's office, waiting for the balding man to come back and tell her what was wrong with her voice. It had been hurting her for quite some time. Her throat was swollen and she could barely talk. Her mom would have been in there if it had not been for the doctor who for some reason had recommended she stay outside in the waiting lobby.2
There was a faint knock in the door and the doctor came in. His black eyes scanned the chart and he said to Clarissa "You're going to be just fine. I'm going to prescribe some medication for your mom to give to you. It's bubble-gum flavor, so I think you'll like it."3
Clarissa stood transfixed. There was something she didn't like about the doctor. His eyes were not trustful and his smile was somehow twisted and sickening. The wart on his nose was the size of a dime and quite ugly. She did not like this man, not one bit.4
"Before you go, I'd like for you to take a shot while you're in here."5
"What is it? Is it ok with my mommy? " asked the five year old girl.6
The doctor removed a needle and a vial from the pocket in his shirt. He then proceeded to draw the substance in the vial into the needle, releasing some of it and indicating for Clarissa to hold our her arm. 7
She was terrified. There was a nasty smile of satisfaction on his face. But because mommy had told her to do everything the good doctor said, she held our her arm and allowed the doctor to inject her with whatever was in the vial.8
Immediately she went limp. She could still breathe, but she could not move a muscle, not even to cry out with her swollen throat. She fell onto the cold table and fear paralyzed her even more than the substance did.9
The doctor then took advantage of her. He raped her, over and over again. She could not cry out. She was trapped inside this useless body that had been injected with what she now regarded as poison. She could only watch from inside herself helplessly as the grown ugly man sacked her of her innocence and began to send her into what would be the rest of her life: a life not worth living.10
The dream ended. Clarissa awoke to the hands of a paramedic. Fearful, she shouted "Get away from me!" The medic let go of her and she rose off the gurney which was on the courtroom floor.11
The trial was over. Justice had been served. And she, the 30 year old actress whose life had been ruined at such an early age, was found to be not guilty.

Sometimes it seems that the legal systems in North America fail to protect the people who need it most. Children should be taught the difference between respecting authority and being abused; likewise, authority-figures should be punished much more severely for breaches of trust.
This is a brilliantly-penned and well-thought-out piece; well done, and I hop to read more from you soon.

WoW that was...deep and a little disturbing. I love how you told at the end how she got her justice and revenge, very well deserved. Nice write, I enjoyed it very much.

Thank you. I think though I should've addressed whether or not killing this man would've brought her happiness. The girl may very well have thought so, but I think in truth it would only have poisoned her soul.

In the end, we find out that the girl is actually a woman who, having killed a man for raping her years ago, is found by the jury to be not guilty. That is why I say in my notes "Sometimes justice and law do not coincide." In this case, it is against the law to kill but probably just in her mind and the minds of many to kill someone for raping them when they were younger.
