Almeria Gordinhunt sits at her kitchen table eating breakfast, glancing at the day’s news. Nothing new had happened since that day her husband and son were killed. Nothing had happened to catch their killers. She sips her coffee, fuming. Her phone had been ringing for a half hour but she ignores it. They can wait. This was far more important than a person calling for something stupid. She had work to do. The killer would be found if it was the last thing she ever did.2

Victor Pladichenko sat at the computer in the Brooklyn Café checking his email. While sifting through the email, he noticed one from an unknown name. Meet me at 401 East 42nd in 5 hours. Don’t be late. That was it. Nothing saying who this person was or what this person wanted. None the less, it was obviously a job that he was about to receive. He needed the money. The rent was due.4

Boris Chancellor was perhaps the most powerful man in New York. He had a reputation for getting what he wanted all the time. Three years ago, he was release from jail on an assault charge. He wasn’t pleased with the sentence and had the judge disbarred. He claimed he was innocent and that the judge wanted a witch hunt to bring down successful business men. Everyone agreed. With the power to control now in his possession, he took over the city of New York. Today, he would go hunting. 6

Jessica Chase lived 45 minutes outside of Manhattan in White Plains. Her house was so huge that twice in the 6 months she has lived in it, she has become lost. Two days ago, she received a call from a woman wanting help finding someone who couldn’t be found. Someone who was guilty of a crime committed sometime last year. Of course, she agreed to help this woman out. She was to meet her tomorrow. Today, she would be out protecting her city. See, Jessica Chase is a superwoman with powers greater than the world. About 6 years ago, her abusive husband came home and began beating her. Not realizing how strong she was, she pushed him back and away from her. He fell 2 stories to his death, 20 feet from the bedroom window. Now she had control of her powers and potions and needed to keep it that way. Picking up her coat, she walks out the door. It’s a fresh new day and fresh crimes were being committed as she walked. When she walked around the corner by the stairs, she changed into better, more comfortable clothes and was gone. 8

Standing in front of 401 East 42nd Street, Victor was beginning to feel uncomfortable. He was standing right in the open for everyone to see him, to question him. This was not what he wanted. He hoped that the person behind his mystery email would show soon. He would leave in 10 minutes if the person didn’t show. Finally just when he was about to head back, a figure waved at him. He glanced around him, thinking this person was waving at someone else. Seeing no one, he turns around and waves back. He moves toward the person. As he nears the person, he sees that the person is a very tall woman dressed in Versace and wearing Channel number 9. Her beautiful auburn hair was done up in a very elegantly braided bun with a wisp of hair waving in front of her face. A goddess, he thought. 10
“You’re the one who emailed me?”11
“That’s right. Let’s go somewhere where we can talk in private.” He followed the goddess to her car. The Mercedes gleamed in the afternoon sun and he could smell the new leather and almost taste the fresh scent they use in the new cars. He sank into the leather, buckling up. 12
“Where are we going? I don’t have all day, lady.” She said nothing. He took this as a need to know basis and he didn’t need to know. After an hour of silence, they arrived in Port Jervis. There was a small cabin-like restaurant that looked empty. She pulled the car into the parking lot and shut it off. 13
“We going in or what,” he asked.14
“We are going to sit right here, Mr. Pladichenko.”15
“Okay, now you just hold on a minute, lady. How do you know who I am? Who the hell are you?” He was getting scared now. She took a breath and began her story.16
“Remember last year in the park? Central Park? Remember the lovely couple and their 7 year-old son? Well, I’m the wife of the husband and mother of the son that were killed. Do you remember what you said the day it came out in the news? You still don’t recognize me? I was the woman in the hospital waiting to say goodbye to my precious family. You were in the emergency room with a broken wrist. The moment the news came out that there had been a double-homicide, I heard someone say that it was a freak accident and that they should have known not to mess with a mugger. Do. You. Remember. Me. Now,” she said in broken sentences. For a minute, there was nothing but silence. Of course he did, he just wouldn't say so. Almeria didn't need him to say anything. She was ready for what she was about to do. 17
"Mr. Pladichenko, I just have one last question for you." He looked over at the woman. Her eyes looked like they could pop out of her head. 18
"Yes, ma'am. Ask you're damn question. I don't got all day." She took a breath.19
"Did you have anything to do with my husband and son's murders?" Again, he did not respond right away. He opened his mouth to speak but she stopped him.20
"That's what I thought," she said. With that, she pulled out her gun and shot him point blank. The body flopped back in her car and she got out. The passenger door opened easily and his body fell out. She would clean the car later and dispose of it. She got in and started it back up. The tires spun softly as she left the parking lot. Her window opened, the gun was thrown.21
Two Hours Later22
Jessica Chase wanted to hurry. She had someone to meet. This woman sounded rushed when she spoke to her and god forbid anything should happen to her. She sped through the traffic with a flick of her hand. She was in Central Park twenty minutes earlier if she had been in a car. The woman told her that she would be sitting on a park bench reading the New York Times. Jessica wasn't finding her.
