Long long ago. There was a star in the sky. He was a new star. His name was Daniel. He was just very innocent and tiny too. He was always curious and investigative too.2
One night, like any other night, stars were twinkling high up in the sky. Suddenly Daniel up there caught sight of a star that was glowing low down on Earth. He was baffled. He wondered what kind of a star3
that could be that can fly here, there and everywhere?4
Daniel then inquired from one of his fellow star, about this star on Earth. He was, then, told that this star on Earth was also a star like them in the sky, but then one fine night he escaped and became a firefly.5
"Escaped.. How and Why..?" Daniel quizzed. He was, then, further informed that the firefly had lost his mind to have chosen the low down Earth while discarding the majestic realm of the sky. He probably did not realize his own importance. In the sky he was visible to millions while on the Earth he was visible only to a handful of people. 6
Daniel pondered on this piece of information. He reflected on the pleasures and sorrows of remaining up in the sky, visible to all. For a moment he felt distinguished. He was new as a star and had only just begun to shimmer in the sky, still he gradually tried to maintain his glow in the sky. 7
Slowly but surely the days passed by and Daniel discovered a secret that each star while enjoying the pleasure of glowing in the sky forever, also harbored a hidden desire of escaping to Earth.8
Daniel was perplexed at this revelation. Once again he closely observed a firefly that was freely flying around here, there and everywhere on Earth.9
Seeing him fly, Daniel desperately felt like flying too. He tried his best... but in vain. It was a rule in the sky that restricted shining stars from flying. They were just slave in the sky. Daniel felt that like all other stars its freedom doest not exist at all. Daniel's heart squirmed. It suddenly dawned on him on why the other stars run away?. 10
And that very night he too left the sky to escape to Earth and became a firefly...11

very good work, which reads like a fable. you are a gifted storyteller with good concepts.

Very interesting but true concept. It is easier to stay in a mode of comfort than to shoot for the stars, take risks and fly high like the eagle. Many of us never leave the ground like the tortise
Return the favor? I entered one of yor contests with the poem, "My Fanstsy," Thanks for the comment!!

Many adages I've heard over the years were brought to my mind by your clever tale: "The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence", and "we covet what we see, so be careful what you spend time looking at". There are a few places that could use some editing, punctuation and such. For example, the first paragraph could be rewritten to read: 'Long, long ago, there was a tiny, new star in the sky named Daniel. Daniel was innocent, investigative and always curious.' Written this way smooths the flow a bit, to my mind. I enjoyed reading this very much. The personification of the star and the human qualities you've given him are rich and vibrant. And the way you leave the questioning in the reader's mind at the end makes for a wonderful story that lingers. Thanks for sharing it here. Peace, Rhonda
