Tiny Complications

Sonyia  withdrew from Zeke. They had been “talking,” which means that they were kissing. Zeke had heard a giant rip in his clothes. Raphael was on watch so anything could happen without his watchful eye upon them. Sonyia stood up with, leaving Zeke lying on the ground motionless. She fled in the forest. When Raphael returned, Sonyia was nowhere in site. He knew something was wrong. 1

As he approached Zeke, his boot grasped at the ground, and when Raphael brought it up, it made a thick Slooch sound. The firelight cast glows upon Raphael faithful companion, but what caught his eye was the amount of reflection off of Zeke’s chest. “Oh no,” Raphael muttered, as he sped up to a jog. He fell to his knees at Zeke’s side, and tried to stop the blood flowing out of his chest. He reached down to the wound and found the nine inch long stiletto that still protruded from his chest. It had been buried all the down to the handle. Taking the blade out would kill Zeke and cause more pain than anything. 2

Holding up Zeke’s head, he said “It’s ok I can help you.”3

“N…no, my good friend. I don’t w…want help. I was foolish. I didn’t listen to you,” Zeke said in gasping breaths. It looked as if it took almost everything he had to utter the words. 4

“I need you now more than anything… I can’t let you die,” Raphael said. He started to perform his healing spell when it fizzled out. You can’t heal someone that doesn’t want healed. Zeke was not willing to be healed.5

Tears began to well up in Zeke’s eyes, and his bottom lip began to quiver, as pain gripped a devastating finger on him. He blinked and his eyes began to glass over. Tears ran down his cheeks, and his mouth gaped open, as his chest started heaving up and down, looking for air. 6

“Raphael are you there?” he breathed.7

“Yes, I am here. 8

“Friend… please tell Sonyia that I love her….I really do… even…if she did kill me. After you tell her… it is your call with what to do with her.” 9

“I understand, but please, save your breath.”10

Zeke closed his eyes, “thank you friend, I will see you in the afterlife.”11

Zeke passed away, and Raphael wept.12

After he wiped away his tears he sat for minute to contemplate what he should do next. 13

“I am going to kill her my friend, then I will finish my quest. Your name will always be remembered.”14

Zeke’s body began to emanate a black light, and as he glowed, he raised up into the air. When the light dissipated, all that remained was dust. 15

“Whoa. That was weird. Your journey into the afterlife had begun. I pray that it goes well. The light though… could it be that he is a stronger demon than I? The light was so intense. I will see in due time.”16

Raphael stood up, smothered the fire, and walked out into the nigt in search of Sonyia. She was the biggest priority. After an hour, Raphael gave up, ruling that it was too dark to see. He stopped moving and found a small opening, where the moon shone through into a clear and open area. 17

After walking into the clearing started his incantation. 18

The feast has begun29

With that simple incantation, the breeze began to blow, and from the forest, figured darted through the trees and silhouetted in the moonlight. When they came into the light they were black, except there eyes, which were the color of gray representing the rank of a special operations force. The ears came out about three inches form the head and were pointed. 31

“Alright troops, form up.”32

“Yes, sire.”33

“Good. You men are my best, and I have reserved and trained you personally for this precise moment. You do not know what your mission was, until now. You all know who King Judas is right?” They all nodded.” good, I know that all of you have heard about the defeat at SeaCrest those many years ago, but tonight we are going to take back what was rightfully ours. I want you to do your best. Hold his majesty hostage, do not kill him. I can’t accompany you on this mission, because of a slight technicality. I will join you later. Now go! To the King!”34

They spread out into the forest as fast as possible. They were living nightmares.35
