The yellow capsule was easily concealed behind a clump of dirt. The metal lid glare-free of the sun. Pieces of metal wedged into its sides. A dark gray powder inside.1
The shovel came down with a clang, and the day turned as bright as the noonday sun. Then a cloud of smoke evolved into dust, and it was all over. There was no use in trying to save the victim. The bomb was always fatal. It never fails to strike its victim, never. . .2
The day went on as normal. People mourned the tragedy and went on with life, wondering if this would ever, ever end. Innocent people were killed every day. . . and it wasn't even their fault. But life went on, and ever into an eternity of uncertainty.3

I know that this ends on a very depressing note, and has a very sad twist to it. I hope you don't mind me using a story as an illustration to better explain my wish.5
If I could have one wish granted, I would wish that no war had ever happened, and that our world would be free of war. Imagine how life would be if there would be no, or never would've been, war in this world. Everyone would be friends and people could live in safety. Our world would be a much better place to live in.6
I believe that the 'genie' should definitely grant my wish. It's for others, not myself. I could've wished for the world's biggest mansion or to marry the greatest guy. I could ask for the latest fashion or cutest hairstyle. But I didn't. I ask this wish for the world, for everyone, so that our lives would be enhanced and improved. For them. . .7

Who's them? The world for one. The them in my story, though, were the people of Thailand. The scene I described was just one of the millions of happenings.9
During war in Thailand, millions of bombs were dropped on it. These cluster bombs were made to explode on impact, but some never did explode and remain active yet today. Even 30 years after a war, they are still found, whether by search teams or a common person working in a garden. When hit, they explode, killing whatever is near.10

If my wish would be granted, this never would've happened to Thailand and no bombs would be killing people yet today.12
I feel so strongly about this because I saw first hand one of these bombs and saw the destruction it could do. Of course it was deactivated and had no powder in it. Being able to hold such a small thing and imagine how big of a mess it can make, just made me really think. I'm here safely holding this 'piece of metal' when over in Thailand they could be killing innocent people. It nearly made me cry to think what war can do. 13
Think about it. . .

You know what really got me thinking during that program about the cluster bombs? It was the shovel that they passed around that was all twisted and busted up. I almost didn't want to hold it b/c the other piece of it had killed an innocent woman when one of those cluster bombs exploded. Anyway, great job Katie. It's something that can really get you thinking. I really like when you said of all the other things you could've wished for, but u would make a wish for the world, not for you own selfish wants. Incredible.
