Chapter Five: 1
Kiva switched to the next track on her CD player and turned up the volume, to try and drown out all the noise around her. The sound of the J-Pop band Puffy AmiYumi blared from her headphones. Kiva smiled and looked around at all the people. She was sitting on a bench outside of the music store she had just been in. She looked in her wallet. Nothing. Zero, zip, nada.
"And now I'm poor again." muttered Kiva, putting the wallet back in her purse, "Oh well. It was worth this awesome music..."
Kiva felt someone tap her shoulder. She paused her music and looked up into a smiling face. She turned away. Leon held up a latte and a box of chocolate pocky.
"Is this what I get for bringing you a snack? You turn away?" he asked, sound hurt as he sat down beside Kiva. He was wearing baggy jeans and a sleeve-less shirt. Kiva looked at the coffee and candy.
"Those are for me?"
"No," said Leon, smiling evilly, "They're for me. I'm gonna hold you down and eat them in front of you, just to make you suffer..."
"Really?" asked Kiva, raising a eyebrow.
"No, not really." said he said, shrugging, "I'm not that evil."
Leon set the drink and food in Kiva's lap. Kiva opened the pocky and took out a stick.
"Here, you take it."
Leon smiled and took it.
"So...You're not mad at me anymore?" he asked, biting off the end. Kiva smiled at him.
"I can't stay mad at anyone who gets me pocky."
Leon finished his stick.
"You failed to tell me that you used to appear for my brother." said Kiva, sipping the latte.
"Sorry about that. I didn't really think you cared, though."
"So who else do you come to? A few other kids in Japan?"
Leon shook his head.
"No. Just your brother, and now, you."
Kiva leaned back, gazing at the cloudy dark sky. The street lamps were coming on.
"Why are you leaving me in the dark like this? I know you want to protect me, but...It's driving me insane. I can't even sleep at night, wondering about who this Priestess of Light is, and why those wolves were in town."
Leon grew very quiet for a few minutes. Kiva looked over to him.
"Something's up. It doesn't take a genius to know that, Leon. Either way, I'm going to find the answers. I'd just...Like to hear it from you."
Leon looked up, a surprised look on his face. Kiva narrowed her eyes in a fierce way.
"Don't bother trying the eyes with me." said Leon, returning the glare, "Your brother always did that. It's getting old, Kiva."
Kiva looked to her feet. Leon sighed.
"I will tell you..."
Kiva looked up, a surprised look on her face.
"...But not tonight." finished Leon. Kiva scowled and stuck out her tongue.
"You love leaving me in suspense, don't you?" she growled.
"Hey, don't be a smart-ass if you want a lift home." Leon said as he stood up.
"You mean fly?! But what if someone sees us?"
"Don't worry. It's so cloudy, no one will see us."
Kiva crammed all her stuff in her bag, slung it around her shoulder, and threw away her cup.
"Alright then. I'll take up up on that offer."
Leon turned to face Kiva, smiling.
"Hey, what's that on your arm?" asked Kiva, noticing something on Leon's arm. It looked like a tattoo of a white Japanese dragon breathing something clear on Leon's shoulder.
"It's just a tattoo. I've had it the whole time. You didn't notice?"
"No..."
"Well, c'mon."
Leon walked into the shadows in-between two stores. Kiva followed quickly.
"Do you mind if we fly another way? It put a lot of stress on my wings last time. My wings are meant to hold only one person."
Kiva shook her head.
"Thanks. DRAGON SPIRIT, TRANSFORM!!!"
The wind began to swirl around Leon, becoming a sort of clear cocoon around him. Kiva shielded her eyes and turned her head, until the wind calmed down. She lowered her arm.
A fierce white dragon stood there, with a light yellow mane and small horns stood there, looking at Kiva with it's green eyes. As Leon flexed his claws, Kiva realized it was the tattoo Leon had.
"Y-You're a dragon!" she stuttered. Leon nodded his head, walked beside Kiva, and bent to the ground. Kiva
stepped over Leon's back behind his head and sat down. Leon stood up, and Kiva's feet left the ground. She leaned forward, and held onto Leon's horns.
"Leon, I'm not so sure..." started Kiva, but Leon turned around, leaped up, and started climbing the side of the store. Kiva gasped and held on tight, scared she'd drop any second. Leon reached the top, paused for a moment, then leaped in the air. Kiva closed her eyes.2
Don't worry, I'm not going to let you fall.3
Kiva opened her eyes to the sound in her head. Leon twisted in the air, pulling himself forward. Kiva looked down.
"Wow..."4
You can sit up now. The first step is always the worst.5
Kiva slowly pushed herself up, until she was sitting up on Leon's back. She still held onto Leon's horns, though.
She gazed down at all the lights.6
Like it? 7
Kiva nodded.
"It's...Beautiful..." she muttered. She bent forward a little.
"So, you can turn into a angel and a dragon. What else can you do?" asked Kiva. She saw him smirk.8
Your imagination is your only limit.9
She let go of Leon's horns and untied her pony tail. She let her hair whip her face, laughing as she tossed the pony tail holder away.
"You know, I'm SO gonna be late. Grandma's gonna kill me." she said loudly, not really caring. Leon looked up.10
Don't worry about that. Enjoy yourself!11
Leon dove down, and Kiva held on to Leon, laughing.
"I haven't had this much fun in years!" she cried, "WA-HOO!!!"12
*~*~*13
Leon and Kiva floated slowly to the ground outside Kiva's house. Kiva looked at her watch.
"Hey, it's a few minutes until seven...But we were up there for at least an hour..." she muttered. She looked at Leon.
"Did you...?"
"Okay...MAYBE I paused time...For just a awhile..." said Leon, trying to look innocent. Kiva laughed.
"Thanks Leon. It was a lot of fun."
"No problem." said Leon modestly.
"So, when are you come back?"
"Kiva?" asked a voice inside, "Is that you?"
"Coming, Grandma!" called Kiva, "Just gimme a sec!"
Kiva quickly hugged Leon and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, making him look off and blush deeply. Kiva giggled.
"Well, see 'ya." she said, and she walked into the house. Kiva peeked out the window at Leon, making sure he couldn't see her.
He looked to the door, still blushing a little.
"Y-Yeah...See 'ya..." he breathed. His wings appeared, and he flew off silently.
