The Princess of the Unicorns

Rosa, wake up! Come with me on another adventure1

take my hand, you won’t fall, of that I’ll make sure.2

We are going to visit the Princess of the Unicorn's3

With her permission we can touch their horns!4

Oh how gracious they are, let’s go little one, come!5

Whee, away we go, higher and higher, "Welcome"6

Said the princess, "so glad that you came to visit me7

Have you come to see the unicorns? They roam free."8

"Look Rosa, see how they are running all together9

the one that she had was sitting on her shoulder."10

What wonderful creatures they are, so beautiful to see11

"They’re going to the mountains," Rosa giggles with glee,12

"can we follow them Tia? Hurry we can catch up to them!"13

"All right Rosa but don’t frighten them!" 14

the Princess smiled, watching us as we flew to the mountain15

away ran the unicorns! climbing higher over the rough terrain16

down to the other side, "Oh look, there’s the ocean down there!17

they're galloping so fast, as if they didn't have a care!18

They’re running across the sand! Now they’re in the water!"19

"Can I go too Tia? Please, please say that I can"20

off she flew landing on the sand, into the water she ran!21

Jumping and splashing, shouting with glee, Rosa was giggling22

What a joy to see as the princess and I stood there watching.23

"Come Rosa, It’s time to leave now, say good bye to your friends24

thank the Princess for letting us come to see the horses she tends!"25

"Thank you Princess, may we come back one day?"26

"You’re welcome Rosa, come back and play."27

"Bye Princess, bye Unicorns, see you soon"28

flying home we flew past the moon..29

"Good night Rosa, let me tuck you into bed."30

"thank you Tia, I love you." 31

Before she fell asleep was all that she said.32

Those Unicorns, beautiful things to inspire the heart of many a poet and writer Joan. One for all age groups here, and drawn from all your memories and dreams of days gone by for sure.

    A delightful Read!

I can see many a child being told this magnificent story "The Princess Of The Unicorns" and delighting in the beauty of the story, their eyes and minds all aglow as they picture the unicorns running free through the mountains and the sea. I agree completely with Hugh Wyles, "your huge heart, combined with your imagination produce a gem worthy of publication in any children's storybook". Thank you Joan for reading and commenting to my poem "Love Conquers Death". I am so happy that you enjoyed it. Take care and all my love, Avril

    Dear Bea,
I see you couldn't resist including some rhyme here and there!
As I said with your earlier story, I think the natural pieces of rhyme that just seem to "fall" in their place give a 'nursery touch' to an excellent piece of child's storytime.
Your huge heart, combined with your ingenuous style and stunningly beautiful imagination produce yet another gem worthy of publication in any child's storybook.
....and where do you get these delightful pictures? Unicorn applause!
    Love and hugs, XXX Hugh.
