Chapter One:1

2

A nine year-old girl sits in front of a grave, alone. Tears rolled down her cheeks and dripped to the ground silently. The wind blew, making her long brown hair whip her face hard, and thunder rolled in the distance. Now and then, a trickle of rain would land on her face or her black dress.
But she didn't care.
She looked to the grave, and closed her eyes. She sat there, all alone, for what seems like hours.
"Hey."
She looked up. A boy, around the age of eleven, with long spiky blonde hair was standing before her, his emrald eyes filled with pity. He wore a jean jacket and a pair of ripped jeans, and a leather bag hung at his side. He looked to the grave.
"Are you Tai's sister?" he asked softly. The girl sniffed, then nodded. The boy sat down on his knees before the girl. Slowly, he opened his bag and took out something: a pair of goggles.
The girl looked at them in awe.
"They were your brother's. I belive they belong to you now, though." said the boy, handing them to her. She stared at them for a few seconds, then slipped them over her head. The strap was long, for her brother was fifteen when he had died mystriously a week ago. She sniffed at the memories of her brother that began to fill her mind again, and she began to cry again. The boy quickly bent down, hugging her tightly.
"W-Why did he have to leave?" she choked through the tears, "Why did he have to die?!"
The boy let go of her. She felt his hand gently steer her head upward. He looked deep into her crimson eyes.
"Your brother would not want any of us to cry. He would want us to honnor his memory with love and laughter, not sadness and tears. Don't you think so, Miss Kiva?"
Kiva smiled a little as the boy wiped away her tears with his thumb.
"There we go. Now, try to cry anymore." said the boy, smiling.
"Who are you?"
"My name is Leon. Though I'm a few years younger than he was, I was good friends with your brother."
Kiva opened her mouth to say something, but it began to rain. Leon looked to the dark angry sky and stood up.
"C'mon...I bet your parents are looking for you."
He held out his hand for Kiva, who took it and was pulled to her feet.
"I must go..." said Leon quickly, turning away.
"Leon?"
"Yeah?" he asked.
"Thank you. For the goggles, and the advice."
Leon turned around. Kiva was smiling, despite the fact it was raining harder and harder every second.
"Your eyes. I see your brother in your eyes. His firece detirmination, and his thirst to prove himself...I see that in you." he said softly. The world seemed to stop as Leon let go of Kiva's hand.
"Leon, will I ever see you again?!" asked Kiva.
"We will. Trust me!"
"Kiva! Kiva!"
Kiva turned around to the man's voice behind her: the voice of her father. Kiva turned around to see her father run up to her with a unbrella.
"What are you doing out here in the rain?! You're going to get sick."
Kiva realized his face looked sunken in, and a little grey from greif as he walked to her. Kiva turned around, to say goodbye to Leon.
But he was gone.3

This is a VERY good start!
I like this a lot, you write very well.
It could use a little more originality because I'm sure I've heard something like this before, but I haven't read the next chapters, so I'm sure they'll turn out beautifully unique! The ending was interesting and makes me want to read on and discover the answer to the enticing mystery that you have penned here.
    Excellent Write!
