I climb out of bed quietly and get dressed.I look at Max before I tip-toe out of the bedroom and run outside.I see Annie sitting in her purple Geo.For a doctor she sure has a crappy car.I get inside and buckle up.She starts to drive and I look out the window.She speaks a little bit loudly "i'm so glad you called me Adrian,I was so worried about you".I nod my head.1

She drives untill we reach a little house.Its blue and has a white door,very pretty.We walk inside and I can tell she lives alone.It's so clean though,almost as if she's never there.She makes some coffee and sits down next to me "how long has this been going on?".I look down as i speak "to long".She takes hold of my hand "i've delt with a lot of young girls like you Adrian,I don't want you to be afraid anymore,you need to get away from Max,otherwise,it'll only get worse".I nod my head "I know,thats why I called you".She looks at me "Do you want to press charges?".I thought about that.For almost a year I had delt with Max's anger.I coulden't take it much longer,even I knew I would end up dead if i stay with him.I look up at her for the first time since I got there "yes,I want to".2

She says I can spend the night and in the morning were going to the police station.I lay down on her couch and think about Max waking up to me gone.What if it doesn't work?and I have to go back to him.I don't want to,I can't.I didn't sleep that night.3

Annie shakes my shoulder "Adrian,are you ready?".I sit up "yes".We get in her car and drive to the police station.I am scared,but I can't tell her that.I need to look brave.She taks my hand and we walk inside.She whispers in my ear "everythings going to be fine,I promise".I look at her "what if they don't believe me?".She hugs me and I pull away "that hurts".She walks behind me and lifts my shirt up "oh my god,Adrian,don't you worry at all,I will personally make sure he goes to prison".4

A male cop looks at us "hello there,i'm officer Mcallister,how may I help you ladys?".Annie looks at me.I take a deep breath "i'd like to file assult charges".His eyebrows arch inward "against who?".I look up,revealing my bruised and burnt up face "my boyfriend,Max bram".5
