A Beautiful Death

Offer me a beautiful death
Beneath a gossamer sky
Trace the stars with my fingertips
Simple comforts before I die1

Promise me a beautiful end
A walk under pale moonlight
Bathe in the pool of silver sheen
Wash away my sin and vice2

Sing to me a beautiful song
A requiem meant for Heaven
Notes to float on a summer wind
To echo across desert and ocean3

Tell me a tale of a beautiful love
Which endures the test of time
A love the world lies down for
A love that would've been mine4

Perhaps I'll make a list this night
Of all the things I'll miss passed tonight
A tiny list of subtle things
Like feathers and butterfly wings5

Fire and Flame
Sighs and Wishes
The taste of virgin snow6

Lightning and Rain
Silence and Kisses
The splash of a sunset glow7

Dreams and Memories
Shivers and Fantasies
Dewdrops glistening like a thousand gems8

Morning mist
And Evening shadows
The trees of autumn and cliché poems 9

A tiny list
Of things I'll miss
Hold it forever by your heart10

Whisper in my ear tonight
That this is not in vain
My passing will live on through others
So they won't feel my pain11

Offer me a beautiful death
Beneath a gossamer sky
Trace the stars with my fingertips
Hold my hand just one last time

  • Absolutely Wonderful!

I'm looking for more poems like this! This is a great poem and I hope you continue writing. Good luck and I hope you do well.

  • amazing

this is beautifully written. I think it's one of the better poems I've read. It's really emotional. Good luck in my contest..you may be a finalist

  • The first two lines of stanza five seem repetative with night and tonight. You could use some more grammer as in commas within stanzas, and periods at the end of stanzas or sencences within stanzas.

The poem itself was quite good. You have so wonderful word placment and I love the list of things you'll miss. It was sad in a way but somehow not so much. I love the first stanza its simply buetaful. Thank you for entering my contest and good luck.

  • oooh, this was so good! There was so much imagery and emotions in it- it was beautiful. Simply stunning. I haven't read a good, rhyming poem like this in ages. Your styled flowed so well, even after you shifted the stanzas. It's a very evoking poem, and was beautifully written. Great job!
