This poem is oh so true... We think the ones we love are going to be our last.. This isn't always the case. You make a good point here, although it seems like more of a rant because of the lack of flow. There are a few huge grammer things that should be taken care of.. Like..

You get butterflies in their stomach"
that could use a bit of revising.. You have a wonderful idea, just revise it a bit.
