Diana-- Chapter Two: School1

“Have a good day at your new school, honey” chirmed Diana’s mother as Diana and Sean got out of the car in front of the school. Diana thought she should have told her mother to let her drive to school. Great way to start a new school, with your mother taking you to school. Diana got out of the car and fiddled with her skirt, part of her new uniform. Her new uniform consisted of a skirt that was dark blue and a sweater that was of a similar color with a white shirt underneath. 2

“Thanks, mom for the ride to school. Will you pick us up after school?”3

“No, honey, your dad will”4

Diana just nodded and headed for the school. She heard her mother tell her to have a good day. Diana walked up the stairs to the school’s front door and went inside. The school wasn’t that big because, of course, it was a private school. Her parents did not believe in having their children go to a public school. Diana had been going to a private school for as along as she could remember.5

Railly Academy should not be any different then any Diana had been to before. Full of stuck up rich kids. Diana walked down the hall to the office. She went in and the secretary gave Diana and her brother their schedules. Diana headed to her first class. 6

Diana walked into Mrs. Leblanc’s class. Mrs. Leblanc was Diana’s advisor. For some reason this school thought that students needed snack halfway through the morning. Almost every teacher was assigned a group of about 10-15 students to be in her advisory. Each day the students would take turns bringing in enough snack for the people in the advisory. 7

Diana walked into the classroom after her 3rd period, which is where advisory was worked into her schedule. Mrs. Leblanc walked over to Diana and then introduced her to the rest of the advisory.8

“Advisees this is Diana McGall” Mrs. Leblanc told the advisory as Diana smiled shyly at the advisory. She ate some of the snack.9

“Hey my adopted advisory! What’s for snack?” Diana turned around to see who it was. To her surprise it was the boy from across the street. He looked at her and smiled.10

After grabbing some of his advisory’s snack he quickly headed for Mrs. Leblanc’s advisory. Andrew always went to Mrs. Leblanc’s advisory, Nick, his best friend, was in that advisory. Andrew walked into the class room only to be surprised by seeing the new girl. He smiled at her and she smiled back.12

“I thought you came here to see me?” Nick whispered to Andrew.13

“Whoever told you that lie?” Andrew laughed “I’m here for the snack.”14

“Uh huh. Maybe before but not now” Andrew just shook his head. He was tempted to go over to her and introduce himself and to find out her name. As if Nick had read his mind he told him.15

“Her name is Diana Mc.. Something or another” he whispered to Andrew. Andrew watched Diana gather her stuff and start to head out. He thought this was his last chance to talk to her but just as he was about to head over to her, Jesimae walked up to him.16

“Hey Andrew what’s up?” She said with a hug and kiss. 17

“Hey Jess, not much. You?” 18

“Nothing much.” By this time Diana was out of the class room. Andrew was a little disappointed he didn’t get to talk to Diana. “Well, my dear Andrew, I’ll see you in American Lit.” said Jesimae, as she walked out of the class room. Andrew was on his way out when he noticed that Diana had left some of her papers behind. 19

Andrew went over to the table that had the papers on them and picked them up. He looked at them and saw that is was her schedule and the paper with her locker info on it. Andrew looked over and saw that they had American Lit together. He was excited as he headed to Chemistry. 20

Diana got up from her desk looking for her schedule. She checked her folders and her backpack but she couldn’t find it. She was glad she had memorized it already. She headed out of Algebra II and headed for American Lit. She had to ask someone how to get there but she eventually got there. Good thing she wasn’t late. 22

She walked in and the teacher was standing at the front of the classroom talking with a couple of students. She looked around the classroom in search of an empty chair. She noticed that everyone had just set their stuff on the desks and were wondering around the class she notice a couple of desks open and went to take a seat. She put her stuff down and sat down.23

“Alright class,” said Mr. Cook “Lets get started.” Just as he was about to start the class the boy from across the street walked in late. 24

“ Sorry Mr. C but you know Ms. Fillips always lets us out late.” He said as he quickly scanned the room for a seat. 25

“Take a seat Mr. Smith” said Mr. Cook. He quickly took a seat. To Diana’s surprise he sat down next to her. Mr. Cook went on with class.26

“ I think this is yours,” he whispered “ I found them in your advisory.” It was her schedule and her locker information. 27

“Thanks” was all she managed to say. Mr. Cook assigned them some reading in the book they were reading, The Great Gatsby. She some catching up to do. They were a little ways into the book. 28

“Ok you guys can have the rest of class to read. Ms. McGall do you have a copy of The Great Gatsby?”29

“No, but I’ll get one tonight.” she assured him30

“Here I’ll let you borrow my copy,” said the boy from across the street “ I don’t want to read right now” he smiled as he handed her his copy.31

“Thanks” She said taking the copy and noticing tat his name was scribbled everywhere on it. Andrew Smith it read everywhere. She tried to read for the next 10 minutes but she couldn’t because she noticed that Andrew kept looking at her as she read. 32

“Alright ya’ll can go” announced Mr. Cook. Diana was a little disappointed because as she handed the book back to Andrew she wasn’t sure she was going to see him for the rest of the day. Lunch was next and she had no one to eat with. She headed out of the classroom. 33

“Hey,” said Andrew as he caught up to her, “ You wanna eat lunch together?” 34

“Sure” was all she was able to say with out sounding over excited. She was happy to eat lunch with him. As it turned out Andrew had the same free block as Diana did. 35
