Invictus

Invictus1

William Ernest Henley2

Out of the night that covers me,3

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,4

I thank whatever gods may be5

For my unconquerable soul.6

In the fell clutch of Circumstance7

I have not winced nor cried aloud.8

Under the bludgeoning of Chance9

My head is bloody, but unbowed.10

Beyond this place of wrath and tears11

Looms but the Horror of the shade,12

And yet the menace of the years13

Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.14

It matters not how strait the gate,15

How charged with punishments the scroll,16

I am the master of my fate:17

I am the captain of my soul.18

Please tell me what you think

I have read this before, it is a good poem. I like the last few lines, so uplifting and letting us know that we can control our destiny. Thanks for posting, very positive thoughts, thanks for sharing
