The earth has grown old with its burden of care, but at Christmas it always is young. 1
The problems of these times will be put in the past for all hated thoughts are 2
undone.3
We reach out to those who have less than us4
We give a shilling for someone to catch the bus5
Running around and buying is not the catch6
Running into old friends behind our door latch,7
That’s the spirit that makes our heart soar.8
That’s what this time of year is for.9
Spending time with ones we love so much.10
Spending our money on those less fortunate.11
Holding the heart of Christmas in our hands12
Holding others near and dear in far away lands.13
Seeing those we love and miss always brings tears.14
Seeing that they have done well throughout the years.15
Praying that our hearts will always be this full.16
Praying for those that have found this world to be cruel.17
Hearing the carolers sing their sweet songs of old.18
Hearing the children open presents; these moments are gold.19
Trust once again in goodness that opens our hearts.20
Trust that the season’s end won’t tear us apart.21
Hope for the New Year gives us something to hold onto.22
Hope and faith until the next time the world will again renew.23

Hooves applauds wearing mittens!
A very uplifting poem on a very cold day. I love you, Paps!

Christmas is like a coin I'm guessing! It has a good and bad side. I know it's a great time to be with family and friends, but I know it can be stressful at the same time.
Happy Holidays!

You old sentimental sap you---or is that the cold medicine talking?
This is nice--sometimes we all need to be reminded of what life is supposed to be about--though I still want a great big fat present under the tree!
I bet in school your a bigger kid at Christmas than your students are! -
This is very sweet, I enjoyed the sentiment. I like the identical initial words of each couplet, they seem to pull the poem together. Line 2, "all" is used twice.
