The Kitten & The Bird

Once upon a time, a kitty lived in a cave. He had a dearth of friends, and was very sad. Yet he had a lifetime food supply, which he eventually grew tired of. One day, a blue fairy appeared right before he was about to go to bed and offered, “I shall take away your whole food supply, in return for a true friend.”1

The kitten had found the deal very good, and accepted. He eventually grew more tired and fell asleep, watching the blue fairy make his food disappear.2

The next day, a bird flew in, chirping, “Hello, kitten!” 3

The kitten woke up in surprise, and meowed in return, “Hello, bird!” 4

The two grew very close, and a week later, the kitten was starving half to death. “I’m hungry,” he mewed, and the bird looked pitifully at his best friend. 5

“You offered your stomach for me, kitten!” the bird protested, and the kitten sighed, and knew this.6

The next day, the bird found the kitten staring hungrily at him, and then he disappeared, what was left of him, only a feather on the ground for the kitten had snatched him out of the air and into his mouth.7
