Deathly Passionate

Death is...1

Dusty demise, soul scattered to the four screaming furies.2

Death is...3

The scurrying of beetles across dessicated skin, heart dry and hollow.4

Death is...5

The shuddering exhalation, life's passion fleeing.6

Death is...7

The tremor of dimishing sparks, the flight of frantic, flashing memory.8

Death is...9

Frenzied final wishes, praying for the final hope of reprieve.10

Death is...11

Letting go of life's dreams, ceasing the cravings of careless existence.12

Death is...13

Overlooking the ointment of life; the eager expressions of empathy, the panacea of purposeful passion.14

Death is...15

Ignoring your inane identity, pretending to perfect, forgetting your flaws.16

Death is...17

Life without friends, family and familiars; the banishment of bliss.18

Death is...19

Passion precluded; un unceasing narration of negativity, allowed to assemble, unadvoided and unattended, in the depths of your heart.20

Passion is...21

Living life free from the fear of death, dying and the degradation of desire. 22

Passion is...23

The sustenance of the soul, the soothing shade from the heat of hurtful hate.24

Passion is...25

An artefact found abundantly where the heart desires success, sageness and sensitivity.26

Passion is...27

The desire of change; making manifest the mystical, the growth of green shoots of improvement.28

Passion is...29

Being free to accept fate, whatever it brings, and never giving up.

    really lovely imagery in this,

i also love the switch between death and passion and the way it is set out is easy to read
    i really enjoyed this read

  • Hmmm …good read even the second time around . Since I have already reviewed, they won't let me do it again.

Yah know, now that I think about it, you never did answer me—what type of publication did you intend this for?

  • Nicely done.
I've seen this style before in AP.

I like the switch from references of death to references of passion. Good imagery and metaphor throughout and all are well placed between the two..

An appropriate title to set the theme and the last line is a wonderful thought for anyone to feel within themselves. It's too bad more people don't relate to it.

    Nicely thought out.
    Great write.

  • I've never really seen anyone write like this and it struck my fancy. I do love how you use your words and display a wonderful picure.

My only problem is how you re-write "death is" or "passion is" after every discription. I don't know if you want it that way but to me it sort of distracted me.

Other wise, this is a stunning piece and I love the style and format!

  • It is really beautiful.

An unusual style of writing; since it’s not lyrical I’ll assume it is intended to be prose not a poem.

It certainly appears to fit the contest, so best of luck.

Myself, I enjoyed it. The concepts are clear and the reasoning behind them well thought out. I’m curious as to what type of publication you plan to offer it to?

Wow, I like this a lot. It's strangely something. I don't exactly know how to explain it.

But it does explain a lot about death and passion. Also very well written. I'm taking it's a poem and I don't always understand them but it was enjoyable to read.

    Good luck.

  • Hmm not sure what I get from this.
