The Loneliest Place

The loneliest place in the world is your mind. You cannot escape because it is everything. It creates the most magnificent glory and the darkest sanctuary. 1

It is your freedom,
Your lust,
Your fight,
Your soul. 2

When you try to leave it, you are lost,
When you embrace it, you stumble,
There is no way to understand. 3

It defines who you are what you do through its interpretation of every movement you make. Your memories are your minds', not yours. Your memories destroy your mind for its reworkings and maze of thoughts lead you onto hollow grounds where sanity can give out from beneath. You are defined not by your actions, but by your reactions, and those are instinct. 4

It pretends to be kind.
Pretends to wish.
But it slaps with vile hatred and calls forth self-doubt. 5

It is the loneliest place because within it you are alone,
Without it you are nothing.
There is no escaping the loneliest place because it comes from within.
